I know theres a few of our Indian riders here,
Can any of you pass on contacts in Bangalore?
Im chasing parts for a carb conversion, some more brass bits and pieces and maybe even a girder front end
Im off for a work trip next month, and have one free day
Cheers

Hello Wokka,
I am from Bangalore and also know few riders who went through EFI to carb conversion. I am not sure about their technique and don't even know if what they did was right or not but these were the following parts that were changed...
The following are things to need to change-
1. Stator and rotar
2. UCE 350 wiring harness
3. UCE 350 TCI Unit
4. UCE 350 Ignition coil
5. New fuel tank and an adapter to mount fuel pet cock.
Things you dont need on the bike
1. ECu
2. Fuel Pump
3. Stator and Rotar
4. Wiring harness
Also, if you are looking for CV carbs of 32mm and 33mm size then I can provide you part numbers.. They are pretty cheap here :) But again.. Round Slides and Flat Slides are more yummy in my opinion :)

Thanks Sanket,
The parts you describe match everything I have been told about the carb conversion.
Depending on price I will probably get a 32mm CV while I am there as parts dont exist here in Qatar and then source a flat slide further down the track
Am I likely to pick up all the parts off the shelf? Or do I need to place an order for them. I only want to buy new
Cheers

Wokka - The prices are real cheap in India. The 33mm CV Carb will cost you less than 50 dollars. It's a Mikuni Replica and made by UCAL I think. Used mostly in JAP Bikes.. here in India.

Don't mean to jump in this Conversation as its off Topic, but when I heard "Bangalore" the place Kormangala ace to mind, I was there about 30 some years ago, I'm sure it's as beautiful as before.

It's a nice place but overcrowded at moment. The Bangalore you are talking about is that awesome place which was really awesome 5 to 8 years back :) It's still nice but just over crowded. Oh! And dam cheap japanese parts! A friend bought a mikuni 28mm FlatSlide used carb for just 3k bucks! Good place for bikers :)

Dampking, I arrive on the 5th and leave on the 9th.
If you've got any spare time and are happy to show me around, drop me a pm with your number.
Cheers

5th of November? Great! I have time, time is never a problem for me. Lets meet up.. :)

Awesome.
Just waiting on my final schedule to see when I'll have some free time.

@Wokka - A friend is selling his TM32 and the carb is in a good condition. I think it is also pre-jetted for any RE 500. Let me know if you want that, I can get the same shipped from Delhi to Bangalore. I think he is also giving away his Mikuni Rubber manifold with that carb.

Nice, that should do the trick.
What does he want for it?
Still no update on my schedule as yet, but I may only be able to get the evenings free
-
Sorry I forgot that such parts are cheaper outside India. Since we pay more shipping so he's quoting pretty high. There are few more sites from where you can buy carbs for a good price! I will pm you the site name.
Also, once you are in Bangalore... just let me know. We'll fix the date and time. Even I am planning to pickup some relays and plastic mudguards for my bike. Some weight reduction plans :D

Great, thanks.
Are the shops open late in Bangalore? Or do I need to try and finish work early one Day?
-
They should be open till 9 or 10 pm.
