This is a pretty creepy place. Folks gleefully preparing for Armageddon or Insurrection II by selling "patriots" dried package meals and seeds for about 5x retail. My favorite is the folks cheerfully eating semi-lethal doses of Ivermectin while declaring they'd rather die than get a C19 vaccine.

When I was a small boy during WWII my parents gave me a beautiful color child's book with that title, but with a completely different cover. It had drawings of WWII battlefields with a short explanation describing the illustrated battle, both on ships and in the desert. That was the first time I saw a group of sailors shooting a 4-barrel 1.1" "Chicago Piano" at a Japanese plane that was attacking the ship.

My mother used to play a WWI piano piece titled "American Patrol" that had a drawing of the Great White Fleet steaming through the ocean on its front cover, which I really liked to hear.

A local reporter has recorded "Proud Boys" & others physically accosting & roughing up mask wearing members of the public with the police looking on and doing little to nothing. Interestingly they don't seem to be doing this in Arizona & Texas, open carry states. Maybe the "cost of doing business" is higher there...or the price of stupidity.

@ #2: KC, the 06 Jan morons were all-in-all pretty feckless. The mood seems to have changed, I think they are gunning for a showdown, a real "Fight Club" moment. These radicalized American Taliban need martyrs to justify their continued belligerence & extreme rhetoric.

If it actually comes to that, it seems to have escaped them that the big winners are the Chinese & Russians, NOT the USA. I just asked another Alt-Right fellow tonight what his big plan would be to fix everything and he just shuts down mid-conversation, as a few others have done also. Somethings afoot. Hopefully the PD, National Guard & Armed Forces will hold together when the unpleasantness starts.

The recent vaccine mandate, to either get the vaccine or quit your job will affect a lot of loosely wrapped folks. Cutting off access to someone's livelihood is often ( for some unknown reason... ) interpreted as a direct threat. That can't help but add more pressure to the mix.

Sadly we have just had four years of this element being enabled by the previous administration. it's difficult now to put them back under the rocks they crawled out from. Easily manipulated and of troglodyte intelligence level they don't see the bigger picture or how they are being used as pawns by those that crave ultimate power and control of this country. KC, A generous +1 to that. My favorite is the "people of colour" espousing the sentiments of this group. As you say, 15 minutes after a "win", the pogroms would begin, clearing the field save for the anointed few. It's that "means to an end" thing.

The kicker to me is that these folks can't say/won't say/or just don't know what they want or exactly what is supposed to happen next.

That to me says either air gap in the thinking or deliberate concealment of intent, neither of which is good.

Rendering a "competitor" combat ineffective is a real tactical gain. All this is driven by competition over physical resources. Russia is intent on re-establishing a buffer zone. China seems to be recreating the "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" idea from 1931's Imperialistic Japan era. Their "One Belt One Road", artificial island building & odd resurrection of the flying boat point squarely in that direction. The AG600 doesn't care if the runway on an island is unusable, it'll still have a shoreline, so rapid resupply is always possible. Their hypersonic DF-ZF anti-ship missile could keep our warships out of combat range, allowing their air defenses to protect the resupply AG600s. The shallow ocean there is perfect for their benthic sub fleet and hellish for our fast attack boats. Australia, New Zealand & Tasmania are also part of the mix, note the quiet preparation by PM Morrison.

I don't think it's all that hard to figure out who's driving the on-line creep show here in the US or who is likely to benefit. The crazy part to me is how many have willingly bought into it.

After watching the Big Cheeze consistently abandon all of his most loyal vassals when inconvenient for 4 years and seeing what happened to the Kurds, can you honestly say that he would have done other than just walk away in May, tell the military to come home, and blame anyone left in country as being just too stupid to get out ahead of time? Either there really is a large Alt-Right contingent intending to start some trouble, or that group have finally looked around, decided that things aren't that bad after all, and are now starting to calm down. The Alt-Righters I know are being very quiet. Maybe that's a good thing, time will tell. If nobody shows up for the 9/18 rally, then likely we're done with the foolishness.

The briefing will be held on Monday at 11:15 a.m. in the Speaker’s Office, a source familiar told CQ Roll Call.

In response to questions about preparations for the Sept. 18 rally, Pelosi told reporters Wednesday that “we intend to have the integrity of the Capitol be intact.” She later lamented that the group is coming to Capitol Hill.

The event didn't have much going for it.

When Matt Braynard announced this event, a month and a half ago, he said there would be prominent speakers present, including members of congress. There weren't, the most prominent speakers were a couple of pro-Trump candidates, and family members and friends of various people charged in the storming of the Capitol.

Without Trump to inspire a call to action, it's got to be quite a challenge to drum up support for the "patriot tourists" of last January 6. It seems that a lot of the folks who might be inclined to show up, are still convinced that those people assaulting the Capitol were left wing BLM and/or Antifa activists.

In Colorado City the FLDS had control of the local PD. The Feds had to step in.

Mebbe the Feds need to straighten out this mess in & around Portland too. The local boys seem to be having too much fun at the expense of the citizenry of Portland, overlooking armed convoys of idiots driving vehicles without license plates and tolerating a year of looting & burning seems excessive.

Maybe we could trade these Portland area Fight Clubbers for some of those Texas bridge dwelling Hattians that actually want to work and get along. The Fight Club crowd would definitely have real issues to deal with when they woke up in Haiti...

An article in my newspaper today says that Biden will be shipping the Hattians back to where they came from, in the hopes of not giving any more of their countrymen future immigrating ideas.
