Been waiting with bated breath to see one in the flesh here in Vancouver and finally got to the bottom of why the delay has happened.

As I had already seen elsewhere on the WWW, Royal Enfield has discovered a bad batch of ignition coils were installed on this model made from December 2020 to April this year. All of the units currently sitting in a warehouse in Tacoma, Washington had to be uncrated to inspect the VIN numbers and production dates to isolate the recalled units.

Units just started shipping from there last week. Delivery to a Vancouver dealer is expected by July 2 now. As told to me by the sales rep in Vancouver.

The following chart may be of interest to some.
It appears RE may be playing catch-up with supply to the home market, at the expense of exports. That makes perfect sense to me.

CB 350 fans might have an even longer wait.

Honda is going to be playing catch-up for some time the way the RE’s are moving. Wonder how they’ll be priced in North America?

The meteor has started to arrive in the UK and I had mine delivered on July 19th. Already done the 300 miles for the first service and the service light has come on. The main dealer cannot do the service till middle of September so I will use a non-franchised dealer to do the service, using genuine Royal Enfield oil filter and seals. Trouble is the Royal Enfield dealer, who is also the UK importer has no oil filter kits in stock for the Meteor yet.

Interesting tip glencoeman, noted.

Stupid question time, is it the same oil filter used in the UCE or Himalayan bikes?

Not a stupid question at all. I had hoped that it was the same as the Himalayan. But the Meteor has a paper cartridge (replacement). and a screen “tube” (clean and re-use).

A modern spin on filter would have been a nice addition!

I agree Dexter it would have been nice if oil/filter changes were as easy as they are on the Interceptor. Seat removal as well. But the Meteor does allow easy inspection of the oil pump strainer at each oil change and an easier drive chain adjustment regimen.
Yeah seat comfort is all about the individual rider. I'm getting more excited after watching(at least 3 times now!) Stuart Fillingham's review of the Meteor. Hope we all enjoy our Meteors. Sales here in the US seem to be brisk so far. Who would have guessed.

Just out of curiosity, I checked out Scuderia West, San Francisco's RE dealer's website and while they had nice color pictures and specifications of every motorcycle that RE imports into North America, including in more colors than I even knew existed, there was not a hint which bikes were available in their inventory, nor was any mention of price. Also, there was no indication or mention of their transportation, setup, or other random fees that might impact the purchase price.   ???

Apparently, they want you to contact them and they will feel you out to see what they can squeeze out of a potential customer when making a sale. Plus, of course, there is no way to use the internet to comparison shop. That is much different than SF Moto, the Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki/Zero dealer just a few blocks away from Scuderia West. They provide the price and lots of photos of each of each of their motorcycles in their inventory, both new and used, on their website. Considering the Scuderia is the only dealer anywhere near SF, who are they competing with that they need to make sure that the cost, even the MSRP, of any of their vehicles will be a surprise to a customer? As a potential customer, it sure doesn't give me a warm feeling about checking out the Meteor, or any other RE model, at that dealership.  :(

Initially, only 5 Meteors arrived at the Canadian west coast dealer around July 23rd. Then about 50 more came in on July 30th and I picked up my Stellar Blue the next day. I was in there again yesterday and they now have about 7 sitting on the floor. One was a Fireball red and it is a gorgeous colour.

All of Canada's supply comes from the USA, North America's distribution point for both countries.

I know initial demand was high as that first 5 were gone immediately. This dealer has a total of 95 units ordered. I had ordered mine in early May, so early birds are likely still getting all the worms around the globe.

I know there are guys over the pond in England who already have one, so it must be your dealer has not received their allotment yet. Hitchcock's had/have some, if that is anywhere near you.

I had ordered a yellow fireball in mid-July with an expected delivery by the end of July. This week the dealer got in some supernovas but not my fireball. I talked to the dealer and decided to switch when I was told there were paperwork issues and they hoped the fireballs would arrive by the end of August but could not confirm anything. Riding season is too short :)

Good decision. It seems RE North America doesn't really send along what the dealers may specifically order, as my dealer  in Vancouver had no idea what was coming, or when, until they showed up.

I'm sure you will be happy with your new choice. What colour Supernova did you get?

I went with the blue supernova. I had tested the blue stellar but I liked the brighter blue over the metallic navy for whatever reason. Of course it may have just been that the blue stellar had been used for test rides for a few weeks and I wanted the fresh out of the crate option ;D.

That would probably have been my thought too!  ;)
