OK, I have just ordered one of the one-piece thingies for you, might take a while to get it to you in two steps, but i like the idea of neatness too.
Ref the two-piece solution, that will be heading your way soon for you to experiment with, but I WILL sort of an 8mm barb hose fitting, no point in fighting the hose to get it on. However I'll throw in the 10mm as well if you want the hose to fit more tightly!
