I’d like to add another factor in here, if I may. I spent many years in prescription contact lens manufacturing as an optical technician , for a world leading and pioneering optics company,in the days when specialist lenses were hand made. My wife still works in the dispensing field of spectacles. The amount of people that I’ve witnessed first-hand who’s vision was badly impaired through poor correction/ damaged-dirty lenses etc , and who were actually unaware of it, would(should) frighten you all. So when someone says ‘Sorry, I didn’t see you!’ , it may be true.

In Sth Australia, we have a licencing system in which new driver's are on ' Provisional ' licences for 2 years, indicated by a red 'P' plate in front and rear windscreens. I saw a young bird with 'P' plates not long ago, in peak hour traffic, texting with about 15 % of her attention on the road, occasional glances up then back to her lap. I watched her for some time, wishing I was able to carry a pistol in this country.( My wife was driving). She had a very new car, and I swear that every panel on that car had damage. Too fcuking easy to hold a licence in this country😱. I used to think the greatest driving sins were ' not indicating' and 'running red lights' . They have been usurped by mobile phones.

Oh, that and the fact that 50% of the nation is using methamphetamine...

Bird - That is a term I have not heard for a long time.

It's retro classic. Soon everyone will be using it.

Perhaps it’s because I’m an old fcuker !😁
And a particularly proudly
politically incorrect one😁

"act like they're all trying to kill you because it you let them, they will" quote from some famous writer i don't remember now

Really though, just speaking of the USA here. A mostly brain dead society that's been raised on all manner of fiction and mega doses of personal entitlement. Don't expect anything less!..Not so funny anymore!!

Like already said, you have to be agressive, everybody has the potential to kill you when you ride. Don't let them.

A bitter pill , isn’t it? Most over- ‘educated’ and under ( ill) informed generation in the history of Man. Led by the nose, whilst they perceive themselves as rebels.

That's how I've lived my whole life and much of the reason I'm still alive at 82  :) :)

I never assume ANYbody sees me even in a car or truck. And my biggest worry (as someone else said) is getting T-Boned or Left-turned. I've buried two freinds who were Left-turned on without one single second to avoid it (and one who was rear-ended fatally at a stop light). And neither one of the left-turn drivers was ever charged.
RI USA '08 Black AVL Classic.9.8:1 ACEhead/manifold/canister. TM32/Open bottle/hot tube removed. Pertronix Coil. Fed mandates removed. Gr.TCI. Bobber seat. Battery in right side case. Decomp&all doodads removed. '30s Lucas taillight/7" visored headlight. Much blackout & wire/electrical upgrades.

I’ve always argued that one should ride with an aggressive edge, to survive on bikes. Small fish among sharks.

Behave like you paranoid, assume everyone is drunk, half blind and wants to kill you. Bike riders are the last of the lone warriors, everyone wants us to become extinct,  DON'T LET THEM WIN!
That is how I believe in the world every time I pull of my driveway, worked for me so far.
Enjoy the road when you are away from the idiots,  but always stay vigilant.
SEE YOU OUT THERE FELLOW WARRIORS!

Two nights ago at around 7:30 PM on posted 35 mph street I left a light behind one car. To my right was 10' high (at least) jacked up, tricked out F-150 towing a old mustang on tandem axle car trailer. The car in front of me squeaked through a yellow at the next light. I was doing 42 mph when I noticed the yellow and stopped. I checked my mirror and noticed the F-150 coming like a bat outta hell. I was stopped on gradual curve so when he blew past about 60-65 and through the red he drifted into my lane. Damn good thing I was over left against the line. Peppered the f* out me and the bike with road gravel. My example of an asshole with too much a sense of personal entitlement. Their warped personal entitlement belief is more important than anyone eles's life these days
