Here we have our tour guide Raj, and us together, At first he denied anything about a large twin, then later on I asked if we could see the prototype dept, he smiled and said "No", so I replied that I won't be able to see the twin then, and he just smiled!! Just 4 of us on the tour, so was able to ask many questions, no all with satisfactory answers tho'!
-
I had arrived at the factory early, and just across the way was the wheelbuilding site and with the permission from the manager was able to freely walk around at my leisure and take photographs.
-
All the staff were so obliging and enjoyed being in the photos
-
and more from wheel dept.

And more!

Looks like a fun & interesting day out.
Reassuring to see they're really not made in forest clearings using only stone tools & animal glues..... ;)
......although I'm pretty sure mine was........... :-\

Dude, almost choked on my drink from that one...LOL
Looks like some of the folks in other markets get a headlight peak as well as the nice 7" bulb. Only saw one or two American bikes with that little headlamp.
Very nice photo spread. Interesting to see carbs still in use.

Enjoyed the tour pics. It would be great if you could post them in the photo gallery so they don't get buried in the forum.

Well thats it folks! I am sorry if the quality of some of the photos are not up to scratch, but if i waited until I sorted them it would take me forever! just hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed being in and around the factory, and meeting so many friendly people

I go watch this guy in the films on Youtube once in a while. He's so good & I like to picture him doing the tank on my '08 Classic, finishing it off & then looking up & saying "Here 'ya go, George. Enjoy"
They should put a little plate on these bikes somewhere:

I did try as I said in a previous post and a smile was the nearest I got to any confirmation, I never did manage to 'translate' the Indian head wobble! ;D I was only in South India and rented an Enfield to travel round the south from Cochin Kerala and eventually finish at Chennai, I put bike and myself on a train :( back to Kerala as this saved 2 days riding. my first day produced 311kms in 9hrs!, so unless you were on an Indian 'highway' it was slow going, the main thing about the trip was how friendly everybody was.
-
Great to see that you visited the factory, toured South India, met people, experienced the yes/no/maybe 'head wobble' ;), and took all these very enjoyable photos.
-
Singhg5: Head wobble..Yes it got to the point that I was doing it too..All part of the culture... ;D..Palace15 did us all a great favor by posting those pics..It never occured to me to visit the factory at the time I was there but 20 yrs ago I would think it was quite different than it is today,,,It takes a lot of determination and guts to ride a enfield or any 2 wheel machine across parts of India especially the larger roads.....That in itself is a experience I would think....I like South India culture but prefer the food up North...
-
There you go, now you've mentioned Indian motorcycles and Indian food. Any more of this and my porn filter is going to start blocking things.
I want to visit both India and Italy for combined food/ motorcycle tours. In one valley in Italy they have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Ducati, and some of the best food in the world. Maybe in a couple of decades when my Donnie son is old enough to go with me.

Duc - now you had rto mention italy, real italian food and ducati, etc...God that place is great....I won't bore you with the details...best you go yourself and explore...Whose Donnie?
-
Donnie? Oh, that should be 'son'. Damn you auto-correct!

So how much did they pay you to stay quiet about the twin ?? ;)

He was hypnotized. That's what the head bobble really is.
