Title: 650 Shock Absorbers
Post by: hpwaco on June 03, 2018, 07:31:20 pm
Finally noticed that the shock absorbers on the new twins are installed "right way up".   Maybe I'll change them on my 14GT!

Inverting some shock absorbers from their designed orientation can be detrimental to their performance. I do not know if the units RE fit fall into this category or not.

I once refitted a pair of variable rate front fork springs incorrectly after an oil change along with some other work which included new head bearings and a different brand of front tyre and knew something wasn’t quite right as soon as I rode the bike down the road but couldn’t work out exactly what.
After a week of head scratching I decided to strip the forks. As soon as I started pulling the first spring up out of the fork leg it was quite obvious where my problem lay.
