I have pulled the motor down for my 58 Chief and finding nothing needs replacing except may be a new set of standard bore rings (the barrel still has hone marks).  I am about ready to put the motor back together.  Does anyone know what the breather mods are for a 1958 SM 700 motor are?  I would like to undertake the mods while i have the motor apart.

Some of what is described in this article is considered breather mods, some of it is re-routing oil to the top end.  Mainly prevention of pressurized oil going across the crankcase joint, as is done in the original configuration of pre-series II twins.

I installed a catch can, then a PCV, then a duckbill, then a PCV AND duckbill.  I never could get it to stop spewing oil out of there.  I gave up on it.
