Well not exactly a report,as there is not much to say!
Bike starts,goes all day.
Never brakes down.
Does not leak oil.
Runs for millions of miles on thimble full of petrol.
Gets stared at alot.
Parked up,lots of old boys inspecting said machine.
All old people repeating same line "I had one of these in the 50s and 60s".
Oh and it did back fire the other day.
Hmm....Forum may have to close,Royal Enfield bikes too reliable.
Bulleteers take up golf to fill in the void.
Year 3000..Royal enfield the only suviving motor cycle brand still going.
Sorry guys, just trying to make report interesting! ;D

I'm 200 miles behind you on a C5. I agree with you, these bikes are freakin' great.
-
u guys are driving all over the place....wow that great...just went over 6k on my 06 iron....
-
Glad to hear it . I believe a G5 is in my future .

Yes guys the G5 and C5 bikes are great!
If I did have a complaint it would be....where are the performace kits?
The engines are capable of so much more than 27bhp.
These bikes need a top end of around 100-110 mph, then these bikes would cruise at 70-80 forever.
Maybe because the engine was a new design they played safe.
Anyone got any thoughts or info on that?

A long stroke single going 100 mph would vibrate the fillings right out of your teeth.
I think you'd be better off thinking you are riding an old iron barrel Bullet with about 2 grand worth of improvements done on it and be happy with what you've got.
Just my 2 cents,
CJ

I'm sure some things will come along.
I may even get around to doing some at some point.
There are some issues, such as the hydraulic lifters limiting rpm capability.
And also the fact that there is no ECU reprogramming available so far.
I'm sure that there are possibilities, but those 2 things will need to be overcome.
I think the lifters will probably suffice up to nearly 6k rpm, if they are good ones.
The ECU modifications are simply a matter of who wants to put up the money to make a production run of Power Commanders.
And then we have to deal with whatever parts breakages that might crop up under those conditions.
It can all be done.
It will take time and money.

My C5 is such a pleasure to ride I don't care what the top end is, I'll never see it. I cruise at 60mph all day comfortably with more on tap if I need it. That kind of riding suits me just fine.
-
Yeah-you G5 riders are all alike. "My bike never breaks down!", "My bike cruises at 60!", "My bikes electrics all work!". Hey-anybody can ride a G5.It takes a real man to ride an Enfield iron head. (all in jest).

I bet that the C5/G5 can pull max rev's at its current output. So sven if you double the HP, the only way you get to 100 is by raising the gearing, so engine vibes at 100 shouldn't be much worse than the vibes at the current top speed.
