I am thinking about changing the stock seat (saddle) on my 2017 classic 500 to a touring seat.  Has anyone compared the two seats.  Is the touring seat much more comfortable than the stock?
Thanks

I'm not sure what the touring seat is, however if it's anything like the Royal Enfield Thunderbird/Rumbler seat, it is MUCH more comfortable than the Classic. One reason I purchased the Rumbler was the seat, it makes for long range riding with a greater degree of comfort.

Now you have two responses,
   - MUCH more comfortable,
   - Not more comfortable, at all.

I'd say that seat comfort depends a lot on how the individual's body is constructed, but perhaps even more on how the individual seat is constructed.  By "A touring seat", did you mean "some touring seat", or did you mean THIS touring seat:  https://accessories.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/40501

Aren't there many different options available from the Indian aftermarket?

And one can rebuild a stock seat with extra foam or gel, or add a sheepwool cover, or combinations of these ideas.

I suppose it depends on your weight, I am 5' 7" and weigh 70 kgs, I have the seat and it is more comfortable but not hugely so and it does take a little while to soften but you will notice some difference.
If your weight would be making the springs bottom out probably no difference.
Don't expect anywhere near the comfort of those honda goldwing or harley style thick padded touring seats.
There are solo seat options that do not use use the springs which may give more comfort but it's up to personal taste, I like the look of having the springs.

You can buy the touring seats cheap on greedbay.

The royal enfield low rider seat which does not use the springs is probably more comfortable than the stock seat as it has a wider surface area and is more contoured and lowers the riding position.

You can use lepera seats as well which are softer.

It's actually a difficult question because it depends on a persons weight and what they think looks good on the bike, in 44 years of riding bikes mainly vintage the most comfortable seat I ever had was on a 1970 harley FLH, a large leather saddle pogo seat with hardly any padding at all , I think a larger surface area makes more comfort unless the seat is heavily padded.

Yes that was the touring seat I was thinking of.  Should have been more clear.  Thanks for all the responses.  Im 5'10" and weight 235.  Looks like I will just be sticking with the stock seat.  Thanks again.
