Not sure how many BC residents got their RE through Bayview Motorcycles - but the owner is retiring and the dealership is closing. You can't blame someone for hanging up the wrench, but surprised they would not sell the business. Of course not knowing the details it might be more complicated than that. Hopefully someone else on Vancouver Island will pick up the dealership.

The closest motorcycle dealership to me was about 10 miles away and carried Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki and Zero motorcycles, up until they closed about 7 years ago. The owner told me that she was fed up with the various and conflicting franchise agreements and just couldn't take the stress anymore. She sold the property to a Dollar store. Another one bits the dust.

When RENA came into the picture in the U.S. in 2016, my local RE, Suzuki and Honda dealership (established during the mid-1960's), located 15 miles away closed too, thanks to RENA pulling the rug from under them and various other financial factors. So they went the way of the dodo bird, never to be replaced. Photos attached of that shop. When it closed it took me by surprise.

It is a tough life in the mom and pop motorcycle dealership business.   :(

I think you are correct. There is one large RE dealer locally that has two locations and carries RE, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, etc... There used to be a few smaller RE dealers, but guessing that RENA wanted to deal with a shop that could move large volumes. This dealer may very well have a shop on Vancouver Island as well and decided to to with them rather than Bayview. Perhaps RENA's decision also made Bayview's decision to close up shop.
