just wondering and looking :)

I thought I read here that the 2008 models are the same as 2007 except for a $200 price increase. But there also might be a Classic with AVL engine.
No more blue Electra-X as well. Black instead. It would probably sell more if the base of the cylinder was painted black like the old-school motor. Doesn't affect me either way.

I read a blog somewhere that a picture of the new UCE model was smuggled out of FRANCE AND POSTED ON THE NET, BUT i HAVEN'T SEEN IT. Sorry about the caps lock, fumble fingers

This link has an interesting picture:

I'm not sure if it is an artist's conception or what.

Looks good. Ols-style Dunlop tires, lots of chrome.
-
After a quick check, I think the picture is of the new Indian market Machismo with the 500 AVL engine.
-
Yeah. Go here:

and make sure you stay on the India site, not the UK or US.

Hi all, there's a couple of pics here that may be of interest.

Now we're getting somewhere! Thanks for the link.
My initial thought is: There seem to be many variants being tested here and there. I like the Thunderbird motor the best. But RE had better round out the fins so the motor doesn't look like a UJM square box design. Yuck.

Be careful what you wish for. It's beginning to look Japanese. IMO :-\
-
I like the Thunderbird, but it does look kinda like an English versioon of the Suzuki Savage (not that it's a bad thing)
-
oooh I don't know MaN,,, I can spend hours polishing the engine
this forward of the new ones.. :-\
not enough engine pieces to make shiny..
-
Good point scotty. Wouldn't it be great... If I could get a Bullet Classic frame with an AVL, 5 speed gear box, and shop for the rest! Tank, Carb, Air filter, Pipes, Bars, Seat, Wheels, Tires, Lights, Speedo, Tach........... Sorry, musta been typing in my sleep. I am definitely dreaming.

It appears in the photo that the front fender is chrome and the rear fender is black. I have seen this combination (sometimes green rear fender) several times. Any opinions on this look?
Butt ugly? Nice? Just ok?

Are you sure that motor in the photo of the Machismo is the AVL motor? The lower left side of the motor looks different than the AVL on the Electra.

Pulled this link from Hitchcock's board: http://royalenfieldlesite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1649&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=165 (http://royalenfieldlesite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1649&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=165)

The first picture looks like a 350 Machismo to me. Made for the domestic Indian market. 350 chrme front fender, Machismo tank and flat topped tool boxes. The second picture is an Electra with the new UCE engine installed.

Has a date been set for unvieling the new bike? I know it is supposed to be at a show in England, but when is that?
-
This show is at the NEC Center Birmingham England. It is relatively small show, comparable to most any of the Cycle World IMS shows in the US. Admssion ( I am not kidding about this) is between $26-$30 for an adult. It is being held Nov. 22 - December 2, 2007. Here is a link. http://www.motorcycleshow.co.uk/ (http://www.motorcycleshow.co.uk/)
the new bike is supposed to be unveiled at this show, who knows what date, I don't
-
Thanks. When that happens, I'll bet the Forum woill go nuts for awhile.

Sanity is over rated. Trust me on this. I'm a professional.

Or as Anthony Quinn said in "Zorba the Greek" - "everyone needs a little madness"

And there are those of us who don't suffer from insanity - we enjoy every minute of it.

Those square fins and the toolbox really take away from what I expect in a brit style bike. Yuk. Might as well think about a new Triumph.
