The shortened ones I see for sale are cut down by 3/8 of an inch. I use the center stand on pavement, and stomp a depression into the dirt off-road, but yeah they are a bit long.

10mm is all you need to take off, it makes a heck of a difference. Put a larger foot on it while you're at it.

Dont cut the sidestand,  if you are not a cross pilot and use the Himalayan without abuse you can down the fork, 1ct.

What's wrong with a can of spray paint? That way the paint can chip and the foot can rust and you'll have a REAL adventure bike

An old pal bead blasted his hardtail 1972 750 Honda chopper frame and clear coated it during a rebuild. After a few months it turned brown under the clear coat. It looked pretty cool on that old chopper, real "natural"... like it was being used regular.

For a time there was a trend in dirt track to leave the frames unpainted. Guys claimed it made it easier to spot cracks. A wipe down with WD-40 after the race and you were all done.

Maybe the new E5 kickstand will bolt straight on the older models. If so, it is a bit too short!

I don't think it does, the bolt is shouldered on the E5 and later E4, original bolt is threaded up to the head.

The adjustable side stand arrived today, 10 minutes to swop over, looks very smart and the bike is now much more stable and leans into the stand a little more very pleased with it. My bike is a 2019 model.
