very true, but i only had two chains let go on me in 40yrs, one on my kawasaki as i was trying to show off to some girls back in 1980 and the other was on my 350 bullet on my work commute 20yrs back, and that was a brittle link plate that fractured, fortunately no damage was done to either bike, in my professional capacity as a motorcycle mechanic for Yamaha the only broken chains i ever come across were on competition bikes that were getting thrashed regularly and bikes owned by people with no idea of maintenance, correct tension and regular lubrication are essential to the life of your chain & sprockets, chains are a precision engineered item that live in a hostile environment and are usually the most often forgotten part of a bike.
