I tightened up my primary chain, relubed my cables and chain.
Installed a new front brake cable (Yay for no more stretching!)
Went for a hard ride through the hills 100 miles, got home and polished the side casings.

Enjoyed the great summer-like weather for these parts at this time of year. Cruised the country back roads and enjoyed the fall foliage.
Ordered the EFI Classic Silencer from our host.
Looking forward to hearing how my C5 will sound with it on.

Sold it.  I never seem to keep a bike more than a few years.  I've been getting the urge to move on to something new.  Fall is here so maybe a nice winter project bike.

Looking at a GS500.  I want something small and simple.  The GS is simple and reliable, just really need to upgrade all the suspension to make it a very nice bike.  Maybe a Ninja 500, but that's a better track bike and I really prefer a bike that's better for the street.  We'll see, gotta go see what's available out there.

Didn't see that coming.  Are you still going to hang out around here?

I removed the baffle from the EFI silencer completely without my knowledge. Sounds better, but backfires frequently.

I'll take it.

Today I was rear ended.

I stopped for pedestrians by a crosswalk in front of a local college, and heard the chirp of tires beginning to squeal behind me, and suddenly went airborne. Surprisingly, the bike seemed to take only minimal damage. The rear mudguard had pinned the tire, the left foot peg was bent, the clutch lever was bent, and the left mirror housing scraped. I was within a hair's breadth of just walking home for my tools, returning to remove the mudguard, and just riding home.

I'm hoping they don't total the bike. She started and ran just fine after being struck, and she's only got a little over seven thousand miles... Too young for the scrap heap. I'm not going to wait four hours for a tow and then have to help load her onto the bed while feeling (rightfully) like I'd been hit by a car only to be told my bike is toast. Fur will fly.

Yeah, glad you're ok!

I'm amazed we don't have more of this type of accident here in my town - crosswalk pedestrians have the right of way over cars, and there is car parking right up to the crosswalks, so pedestrians are always stepping into the road from between parked cars.  Drivers are always having to stop short to avoid the walkers - and with the scenic, touristic nature of the town, drivers are often looking around them to catch the sights or looking for a parking space, rather than focusing on driving safely...

Glad you're OK RS.  I was almost rear ended about 3 years ago at a school.  I slowed down at a green stoplight to turn right into the school parking lot to pick up my step son from school.  As I was approaching the intersection I heard tires squealing behind, so I leaned the bike over as far as I could and cracked the throttle wide open.  After I made it thru the intersection I saw the car stopped in the middle of the intersection with a giant cloud of rubber smoke.  I'm pretty sure if I hadn't reacted the way I did I would have been hit really hard.
