Gremlin - that looks good!  Can it be seen from the side at all, like the OEM unit?

Not so much.   maybe I'll add reflectors to the wheel spokes and sparkly tassels to the handlegrips ?

After 30,000km of regular riding over the space of 18 months, my OEM battery is finally failing - (at least I hope it's the battery and not the starter motor!)
Not a bad run for a stock battery though.
Installing the Motobatt MBTX14Au today.

Update: farrrk. It was those f%#*ing negative battery terminals again. Should've checked those before forking out for the new battery. I wanted to see how long the oem lasted.
At least your new AGM MOTOBATT will never puke ACID over your chrome or paint. You will be glad you switched.
Best Wishes, Craig McClure

:D got out for a nice long ride. Gnarly ran fine except for some backfiring on deceleration. That's new. Hoping that it might be just a fouled plug?

Finally got the EFI short bottle exhaust and Power Commander installed.  Like the sound of it.  Took it to work (30 miles one way) and it ran great, for the most part.  I did notice slight hic-up where it seemed like it missed fired.  Happened about six separate times, all spaced apart, with no load just a steady throttle.  Maybe a loose connect somewhere.  Anyone else experience this?

Seems like every time these bikes develop a "random misfire" it's a broken a negative battery terminal.  Not always, but a lot of times.  I'd start looking there as it is easy to check.

That has crossed my mind and it will be the first thing I check.. Already been down that (hidden/broken connector) road once before but that time it just up and died on my son while I was out of town.  Didn't do much for winning him over to the RE camp.

Not forgetting the sidestand cut out. vibration at speed can cause the thing to operate, cutting ignition for a split second. Happened on my B5 while overtaking, not nice! soon as I arrived at my destination the switch was disconnected....Not had a problem (fingers crossed) since.

That's why I didn't think of it, I assume that's the first thing everyone does is unplug it.   ;)

I've been having some mysterious misfiring lately too. It would happen mostly at high speed (where it was most troubling) but nothing stopped it from also occurring on side streets. It was getting worse, too.

Decided to swap the BPR7ES plug out for the BPR6ES, administered a healthy dose of fuel injector cleaner, and checked some wires for the PCV as well as the battery cables. Nothing loose (or at least not anymore) and problem solved. Me and the bug that hitched a ride in my helmet just got back from a rather pleasant test ride.

Mine is still missing in a similar fashion.  I have also developed a problem that I never had before installing the new silencer and PCV, it backfires.  Not often and usually just one load pop.  Never had that before........

Do you know which of the actions you took eliminated the problem?  Spark plug, loose connection, injector cleaning?
