I don't know if the lighter oil helped, since I also charged up the battery at the same time.

This is the bag:

I have the same bag on one of my other bikes for months, and I've been very happy with it. It's a great compromise between value and versatility – and it's inexpensive enough that I don't really care that much if it gets stolen off the bike.

Rich, that is a nice bag for the price.  Does it look like it could be mounted to the back of a cafe seat?  I may just stick with my backpack, but that bag does look like it is easy to install and remove.

The bag has 4 D-rings, on the bottom on the 4 corners. So it can be mounted any way you like. It comes with various straps but you can bring your own too.

I have the 2 front D-rings hooked to the foot pegs, and the 2 rear ones connected by a double-ended strap that wraps under the pillion seat frame. The rear strap is just for stability (can be manually removed) because i didn't want to bother removing the pillions seat to attach it more securely.

Spent the afternoon de-rusting and painting away all the winter corrosion from my B5.
I also sorted the vagrant chain guard with a couple of washers between frame, guard and shock then fitted larger penny washers to the outer side of both rear shocks. feels more secure, just have to wait and see.
I fitted a small rear mudflap, the type with Royal Enfield in gold writing.
I removed the Givi panniers and catches from the pannier frames so I could finally fit my British Army '58 pattern haversacks as panniers, which I will keep on for the summer and use the Givi's for winter.
The bikes already for some summer trips and tours. Must remember to take a picture or two to share.....

After re-installing the rear luggage rack last weekend and noticing from the top that it looks out of square I thought tonight I'd re-adjust. Well, even though it has slots I was unable to adjust it the way I wanted and ended up chipping a flake of the rear mudguard valance. Another battle scar.

Didn't do anything to the bike, but I'm getting ready to do some hydrographics to it.  I did a test dip with an old broken mirror today, and it came out descent.  I think there must have been very light oil left over in the storage tote that I'm using for a dip tank because I got some small bubbles in the main part.  Need to do a couple more practice dips, but I think it will go well.

Here is the pattern I will be using on the new cafe seat pan.  I will also be doing the primary cover in a carbon fiber graphic that should come out really cool.  :)

Took advantage of a nice day for a 189.5 mile ride once again without incident.

Sick.  ;)  I like it  8)

Maybe you'd consider starting a hydrographic topic so we can all follow along and learn ?  Is it something that the average tinker could do ?

I can definitely start a new thread.  In a sense, anyone can do it, but you do need tho know to how to paint as well.

Today I burned the mortgage, so to speak, on Fiona; just made the final bike loan payment (two years ahead of schedule) to the Credit Union... She is mine-all-MINE now.

(of course, being I'm back out on tour, I can't ride her...)

After 30,000km of regular riding over the space of 18 months, my OEM battery is finally failing - (at least I hope it's the battery and not the starter motor!)
Not a bad run for a stock battery though.
Installing the Motobatt MBTX14Au today.

Update: farrrk. It was those f%#*ing negative battery terminals again. Should've checked those before forking out for the new battery. I wanted to see how long the oem lasted.
