I pulled the tarp off of the Blackhawk today to discover that somehow, about a 1/4-1/2 of a quart of oil had been, I assume, poured on the back of my bike under the tarp.  I don't know how the hell this is even possible, and it pisses me off because I just gave the bike a full detail before I put it in storage before I left for vacation.  I can tell there is a bunch of oil between the seat pan and the pad now too.  Effing shitty people.  The tarp is basically ruined now too because it has so much oil on it.   >:(

I was so mad about it that I decided that despite the primary cover being loose, I fired it up and went for a ride.  I just stayed in the neighborhood, but I was able to load time the bike a little better with the 92 octane.  She's running good, but I need to look into a Mikuni carb so I can run pure E85.  I just can't get enough timing with the 150psi cylinder pressures on pump gas.

Your bike was in a public area with the tarp on it?

It was parked in my personal car port that I spend $25 a month to have.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed about it.  What's the point in paying extra money to keep my bike protected if f**k faced assholes are still going to vandalize it.    >:(

I used to keep finding cigarette butts in the same place just outside my courtyard wall at the gate. Apparently someone was checking out the new residents for extended periods.
I hung a false security camera in a conspicuous location and haven't seen a butt since. I just change the battery occasionally to keep the little red light blinking.
Might be worth a shot.

Vandalism just pisses me off - This smacks of some angry, noise sensitive neighbor or someone pissed off about a motorcycle taking up a full space - F'ing apartment living right?  When I lived in a apartment years ago some dudes moved my bike out of a full-sized spot up onto a sidewalk.  When I confronted them, they said "bikes shouldn't take up real car's spots."  I then pointed out they didn't have permission to touch my bike and that they were blocking the sidewalk and that we had a neighbor in a wheelchair.  They said "Tuff shit, figure it out." I ended up having the apt. manager designate two spaces for motorcycles and stripping them for motorcycles only.  Those two knuckle draggers were pissed...such is life.

That is what I came to as well.  Either some pissed off woman in that building that thinks my bike is too loud (even tho I never rev it loudly or excessively around the apartments) or some punk ass teenagers just out causing trouble.  I think after the Chief is sold I'm buying a bike alarm and will keep it parked closely to my apartment.  I will also be keeping a baseball bat by the front door for when I ever hear the alarm go off.   >:(

My battery straps are frayed and one is broken. I have temporarily replaced my straps with paracord. Tied it real tight. This will get me to the end of June, when I can replace the straps and cover.

Installed Baren Napoleon bar end mirrors -- Why did I wait so long to do this? -- Night and day in rear visibility, and a subtle frontal difference without the stock mirrors blocking a bit of the view.  Vibration is negligible.  It is advised to purchase longer bolts when installing these mirrors just to be on the safe side.  Try, and enjoy !
