The weather service claims the high wind warning expires at 1400 today. The highs in the L<<A. mountains tomorrow around 47 degrees. I trust the weatherman completely. That's why my fingers are crossed !

Put an Iridium plug in it last night. The original dual-ground-electrode Bosch was awfully white and chalky after only 2100 miles. Does that plug run hot? Will I still have a problem with the new plug?

Iridium is a great plug. You will notice much improved idling and smoother running.  It is a definite improvement over Bosch.

IMO the plain Jane NGK BPR6ES is a definite improvement over the twin electrode Bosch that comes with the bike.  ;D

My Bosch plug was fine but my first NGK BRP6EIX came out a little chaulky looking after a few miles.  I switched to a BPR7ES which seemed to work just as well (on notch cooler and not iridium).  Right now it's cooler weather and I've been running the 6 but haven't looked at it in a while.

With the Bosch my idle was fine when hot but hunted up and down at startup, nearly stalling at times.  With the NGKs my idle is way more stable at startup and even a littl more stable once it's warm.  I find both the regular and iridium work just as well.

I finally did go out the other day expired tags and all. Had a blast for about 5 miles in the balmy 72 degree weather. The first ride since late October and it felt great!

After 5,000 miles I finally replaced the crappy chain on my G5. I took it for a 30 mile spin today and my God, what a difference. No more jerking and clicking. The bike just rides so much smoother than before. I highly recommend upgrading to a quality chain.

Ahh, the chain...

In an effort to unearth the premium chain I bought from CMW a few years back I cleaned the garage.   Still have not found the chain but did dig up a lot of nifty things.

Also finished building the timing side of my 95'.   Now I just need the drive sprocket I ordered a few weeks ago to show up (I will be calling Monday) and that premium chain I can't seem to locate.  I will just have to assemble the head and rocker in the interim.

Fitted the Gold Star silencer to my 2009 G5 Deluxe, Delivered within three days of ordering from Hitchcocks Motorcycles Uk..Sounds great.....Not too loud when normal running ,open her up and it brings out the hooligan in me.,nice gurgling sound when I close the throttle,Straight easy fit,,The only problem I have is the lug on the exhaust pipe where the front of the heat shield fitted, I dont want to remove it incase I ever want to refit the original silencer...Has anybody any sugestions how to disguise it?

Thanks Will,    I considered the small heat shield but thought it distracted from the good looks of the silencer,  I was thinking more on the lines of a some thing about an inch in diameter  ,a small metal Enfield badge or something.......

John,
I use this fancy "flame" heatshield to cover the messy join on my Goldie pipe. It's only just long enough to cover the ugly bits, but looks the biz. The small heatshield from Hitchcocks et al is too small to be any use for anything much.

Fitted an EFI for replacement of the torpedo.

Used a 7 1/2" heat shield to cover the ugly bits.

Worked fine.

That's what I have on mine. It's minimal and looks and works fine for me. I'm going to the license bureau to make my bike legal today. I'll feel more comfortable tomorrow, when the rain moves away, to go tooling about NE Ohio in the balmy 60 degree weather that is forecast for us here.

Went to a BSA Club swapmeet yesterday morning. Some interesting stuff there, abut not much to jump up and down about. A nice restored Victim for $4900 and a not quite as nice B50SS for $4200. A really nice Rickman frame.
Then off to a Vintage Club get together. A really interesting, about as minimal as you can get, Triumph Bobber. Not usually into those, but this one did catch my eye. Looks like it would be comfortable for about 3 blocks!
