I don't know about the side casing. I ordered the B-5 based on a picture from the N.Y. m/c show. This is also my first Enfield. So...????? Here's a picture from the other side.

Although it's obscured by the kick start, is that a cover plate over the countershaft sprocket? For older bikes, that whole side plate comes off. That assembly is not like the G-5.

Can you post some pics/closeups of your bike? Does it have a 7" headlight?

The bike is now at Vince's shop while I'm waiting for Seattle to stop doing what it does best . I'll ask Vince about any questions you may have and report back when I go down to bring her home.
It comes stock with a 5 inch.

Those are C5 side cases on both sides.

Beauty ! Definitely my first choice. Could you clarify , what size tires, rims does your bike have ? I ask because the Canadian site is saying 18 " but my understanding from the US site and Indian site is 19 " . Can you tell me straight from the horse's mouth so to speak. . Thanks, Nigel

I didn't check the tire size myself and the bike is 60 miles away at Vinces. I will bring her home when the weather gets a little dryer. The tires are Avon Speedmasters

So for about $1000 less you get a back seat, a kickstart and a square tool box. Those must be some pretty expensive kneepads on my C5. You made a great choice!

For obvious reasons my Precious is the prettiest bike on the planet - but the second most beautifull one is the B5! I try to fancy a grinning holodeck thumping on the maiden voyage... ;D

They look different than the ones on a C5. And not just the size of them.

Did you check with Ducati/Royal Enfield Seattle when they will be getting the B5 models in stock? I almost bought an AVL from VInce but the distance was one reason I declined at the time.

When Cycle World wanted a UCE to test, the US distributor shipped a bike to Vince to set up, then paid to ship it back because they knew it would be done right. I am lucky he is only an hour away.

Vince is great.
With a UCE B-5, you would have little problem cracking open a Chennai crate and doing a good set up.

Congrats on the bike. You bought from a great dealer. If you need any parts or accessories, give Al a call first. I f he doesn't have it, chances are he can get it before any other source. Post some pix when you can. I would really like to know what the differences are from the previous models.

Well, I'm 142 miles into the break-in mileage, and the bike is loosening up nicely. My one area of concern before I got the bike was worrying whether the standard exhaust would sound anemic. Call me crazy, but I quite appreciate the civilized note of the standard pipe, and where as I had intended to replace it I think I shouldn't bother now.
If I can make it work properly, I shall try to post some photos here.

You are not crazy Sir.
The stock UCE exhaust produces a deeper and more authoritative note than the stock systems used on the Iron Barrel and AVL machines.

A question regarding accessories...
The B5 is based on the Indian home-market 350, yes?
So, theoretically at least, the bodywork accessories (i.e. - saddlebags, seats, etc.) from the Classic frame bikes should fit, whereas the engine, being an EFI bike, should use accessories compatible withe the C5/G5 (i.e. - exhaust systems)?
I ask this because I'd love to get myself a set of the metal side cases from the Classic series, as well as possibly a set of engine guards, but am not sure whether RE USA will be releasing any specific B5 accessories, or whether I can just go crazy with ordering pieces from India.
Any thoughts?
BTW, thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. It's nice to speak with fellow motorcyclists without having to suffer "bikers" and their seemingly inherit hang-ups.

It looks like the B5 actually uses the same frame as the Indian home market carb-UCE. If this frame is indeed identical with the pre-unit-frame, a happy B5-owner would have access to literally thousands of aftermarket parts, either of Indian, European or American production.
Before ordering parts on a grand scale I´d wait for some first hand information, though. HOLODECK! Time to get her on the road! And don´t forget the photos! ;D

nothing wrong with keeping stock exhaust..its your machine and u will do what u want to it...I kept all my stock exhaust in case I ever need to go back....u never know what will be the deal in the future and if anything u totally legit and good to go on all fronts....enjoy the bike and the B5 looks fantastic...

Nice photos. Are the battery cover and toolkit cover made of plastic? If so, I guess that is one way to shed some weight and keep the cost lower. Is the tank plaque held on by glue or screw?
I notice the oil filter cover is the C5 three-bolt version.
How about a whole-bike shot or two?

YES, it is raining here in Seattle today. I was going to change the oil and filter but will wait a day or two.
The Savage looks really nice. I wish Suzuki would bring back the standard version of the 650 with the footpegs at the normal location instead of waaayyy up front.
I wonder why Ducati/RE Seattle didn't get a B-5. But they have not been very aggressive about marketing the Enfields yet. Vince is established and those who know contact him, even if he has no floor models on display.

how many miles have you clocked, and what is your opinion of it's ride so far?

Thanks holodeck for the photos, I couldn't figure how to get mine posted. How've you found the ride? My impressions have been very good so far.
I've got 176 miles on mine now and am averaging (very) approximately 75 mpg on mine. Keeping it below 40 for the break in mileage has been hard, but very enjoyable. The handling has been good, very traditional, though I've noticed a bit of a light weave below 20mph, which I suspect is due to the 18psi in the new front Avon.
What are your impressions?

2 1/2 miles so far. I'm in Seattle so my opinion about the ride so far is...wet. But it sure is a really good looking motorbike. I just sat out under the gazebo today with a beer or 2 or 3 etc. and just looked at her.

The tank badge is just smashing! It´s a pitty that it´s raining over there, but on the other hand breaking in in cool weather is even better! There is no bad weather, only wrong clothing ;D

Try running 32 psi in the rear tire and 24 psi in the front. 18 psi is to low. This is what I run on my G5 Deluxe. By the way, I love motorcycles AND I ride a Harley also !
