Really wish this forum had media embedding capability, sigh...

Well, nonetheless, simply take the time to click below and see for yourself.

And these old Formula 500 race cars are brilliant to watch, too, as they use single and twin cylinder motorbike engines.

In a related vein, for some reason I can watch that 1966 movie "Grand Prix" again and again, while modern Formula One drama barely holds my interest. I have it squirreled away on the hard drive of an elderly laptop I keep around chiefly for its DVD player. But I just found a "bootleg" but very decent quality free copy of it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/RqxMYBj8axU. If interested you'd best grab a viewing before the lawyers bring down The Banhammer on it. After that, or if you've got high scruples or two bucks burning a hole in your pocket, you can catch it on Amazon Prime here: https://www.amazon.com/Grand-Prix-James-Garner/dp/B000MAOLVW

So badass my Enfield's actually illegal  in India. Yet it squeaks by here in Virginia.

The F1 grand prix circus is moving slowly and steadily to places that don't have much automotive history like Bahrain for example. It's loosing ground i would say, and the next piece of software or some other electronic gimmick that makes those cars go a milliseconds faster around the track won't make it more appealing imo.

The film is simply beautiful, that's why you can repeatedly watch it.  And vintage machinery is simply beautiful, that's why you can repeatedly watch it, too.

Despite their mind bending technological sophistication, modern racing and modern machinery simply lack beauty--there's no more human touch in them, so neither have emotional accessibility.

OR - get yourself to the Isle of Man for the Classic TT, walk the paddocks, talk to the riders, wrenches, see the actual hardware from two feet away, then watch the boys thunder past on Vintage equipment from virtually any point around the track. The bus system takes you around the course, pick a corner, straight or pub and enjoy. The fast 1980's Honda guys still hit 160 MPH, the big Twins and Singles boom around at well over the Ton. It's unbelievable spectacle, historical immersion. Excellent accessible museums abound, the IoM Motor Museum in Jurby, at the north end of the IoM, is not to be missed. If you can find the wherewithal, go at least once in your life.

A trifecta of Pre-Unit Bullets: a Red Deluxe 500, a Green Standard 500, and a Black ES 350.
