This is what HD should be competing against.
I'd happily race that Triumph on my Wing - let's say... first to 5000 miles, with 2 weeks clothes, computer equipment, tools and work clothes, camping equipment and a pillion is the winner ;D
No wonder we no longer have a motor industry

They should have built a twin cylinder version as a sort of Sunbeam S7 update.

...some quasi-off-road tyres, toss the front fender, hacksaw off the tyre-wiper/license plate holder and you've got a Bobbers dream....for a mere $20,000 USD.  :o

With about 50% more motor than most Lux-o-Yachts, torque shouldn't ever be a problem. This should be a real hit at Sturgis, with owner median weights of around 275 - 350 pounds; maybe even siphon off a few R18 riders. What a beast.

I've ridden a few of these, I put around 5K on one of the early ones. I'm not a fan of them, but when you twist the throttle it's no joke. Those things pull like a mule going up a ladder and then some.

Good footage of these big boys in action. Didn't see a section about picking one up in a dirt parking lot... :o

If your R3 hits the deck you'll be calling  in the nearest heavy recovery service and they'll need to bring their rotator  and an ambulance if you got caught under one. The only guy I know that owns one is as massive as his bike.

I've had to pick up my Wing a couple of times (all 140lb of me) and if you don't have a hard surface, it's not happening  ;D

I'm thinking these would make a real good Trike motor, like for a Can-Am or similar. I wonder if Triumph has a prototype skittering around? I believe Honda used an electric motor for the reverse function in the Wing, so Triumph wouldn't even have to redesign the gearbox.

You might be on to something. I wouldn't swear to it but it seems to me I have seen some conversions trikes using the R3 platform somewhere but I can't recall where.  ;)

I was thinking more like these reverse trikes:

Honda NeoWing

https://slingshot.polaris.com/en-us/

I hadn't consider those. Those things are well outside my sphere of interest, but I'd imagine you could build a nice one based on the R3 engine.

AzCal, are you looking to get one? If so I have a largely completed one based on a 1500cc / 6 cylinder Gold Wing which, of course has a reverse. Reverse trike with side by side seating. It is in the SF Bay Area, mounted on a trailer(included) at a very attractive price. PM me if interested.
