I also have this combo (dna filter) and it does purr along nicely at all speeds.

I have the factory standard combo and it does purr along nicely at all speeds.  ;)
I'm not tight, frugal is a nicer way of saying it.  8)

And they don't need the gasket dance or reducers, etc. They fit onto the header pipe exactly.
Style is style and I love that there are so many. For me my choice metric is weight, flow, saddle bag space and style in that order. That said, the pea shooter style also aids my fondness of the sleeper-bike. (don't know if that is a worldwide term)

What type TE-201do you have Mild steel chrome or stainless steel?

I know this is an old post but I just joined the AEW 201 club.   They're much slimmer than the stockers, a bit lighter, and appear very well made.  To my ear the sound is very close to a late sixties Bonneville in character.

Price was right at $270 USD with very quick shipping from India.  Easy fitment also.

hello there, yes indeed, these aew 201 look great and allow more room for bags. The question I was asking myself is whether they have any incidence in the running of the engine? More/less power and torque?  I asked  AEW whether they had carried out any dyno test and they said no... Do you know if anyone has? or  simply noticed any changes ?

Salut ace30.  My 2 cents. Maybe but this manufacturer is a pipe bender not an exhaust specialist.  If you just want more noise or luggage space or like their looks go for it.  If you want performance then choose an exhaust specialist who actually developed their product with dyno validation.

ace30, Our friend whippers is not wrong but, fare enough, his answer wasn't fully inclusive. Those 201 silencers are a very simple and a long established design. I'm willing to assume that you are not changing header pipe. Just changing the mufflers. Then you will have eliminated two cats right off the bat. They are straight through silencers with an expansion bulge in the center section to reduce the noise level. The interior pipe has louvers to allow that expansion. But there are no internal chambers which would demand a flow analysis. Thus, ergo, why use a dyno controlled by the manufacturer to post a set of very subjective numbers. If you choose to use a set of baffles, those will add some restriction that can be measured with a flow meter or even a child's pinwheel. You, the user, can adjust the flow of the removable baffles with simple hand tools.
    Where whippers is especially correct is if you are buying a full system and one with chambered silencers and or scavenging. Then you should be looking at some tech specifications to guard your money.

If you except the basic principles of an internal combustion engine and the age old analogy of a "air pump" then you can be confident that if you also let some more air in and mitigate the current air/fuel lean status ... you will get better performance. If you change over one side at a time, you can do your own pinwheel or ribbon test. It isn't rocket surgery. The AEW 201 units are well made and have better than average finish. They are, as you likely know, considerably lighter than stock and if I recall take about 6 inches of width off the bike. You already mentioned the extra luggage capacity. Looks are looks (until its close to closing time).

Jack you make a strong argument. Especially in the case of these bikes where less weight and no cats can only help and there is no prospect of substantial performance gains without more work anyway.

There are many different options and approaches to those bikes. Some will spend megabucks building an 850 whilst others will choose only the least expensive mods in keeping with the bikes modest price.

There is no right answer. I am only offering my personal view which is that I have a bias towards performance products which have some data behind them.

Everyone is free to do whatever works for them.

For my purposes I could not be more satisfied with the 201 silencers.  They are not ideal for the boy-racers but for that matter neither are these bikes.

Your remarks with respect to dyno test results are quite apt.  Dyno sheets appeal to a certain mind-set but it doesn't take a genius to realize that mfg. dyno results will ALWAYS reflect noticeable gains.  Over and over it's obvious that these tests mainly create opportunities for people who like to argue with paper.

BTW, I weighed the mufflers.  The pair of AEW items with baffles are 10.7.  The stockers are 21.6 lbs.   The difference in visual mass is huge.  I might have to buy the Hitchcock polished stainless headers to finish off this exhaust.

One last thing.....My TEC 2-1 is for sale.  PM if anyone is interested.

I have these on.. With a modified opening for the stock air filter and booster plug. Runs like a clock...and will sit on 130kph all day
Drink now....avoid the Xmas rush.
