Well - the relationship between an empire and it's colony.

It is not very promising for RE to produce bikes in Great Britain. The market is rather small and only local, but does not allow access to e.g. the European market easily as UK choose to leave the EU.
Another fact will be that labor is too expensive in Great Britain.  Argentina offers a large potential of cheap workers, a large domestic market and – most important – has direct access to other MERCOSUR states – especially Brasilia.
This year RE will also start production in Thailand for this large domestic market, as well as an easy access to Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines and other Southeast Asian countries with a large demand of cheap motorcycles.

The reason South America is a good prospect boils down to the poverty they know people want cheap transport the markets there could be hudge and then there's the parts another hudge market you are talking billions.

Plenty if you think about it, and are a politically conscious person, for one thing look at the statistics, look at the money they used to bleed from us, all our fish they stole, bloody cheek coming in to our waters and stealing all the best seafood when many national brits can't afford to buy it, the only people who supported the EU were the bunch of leeches making a killing from it, don't start me on that one. I am not saying they were not hard working slaves, some completely took over factories, but enough was enough the have to stand on their own two feet not ours. This is about half the distance from the US, as the Campana, Buenos Aires Province, but it's reported that only the Himalayan will be assembled in the Columbia location.

Is there any reason to think that the 650s and Himalayans shipped to the USA are assembled at either of these South American locations?

Another new facility opening is announced, to assemble KD Himalayans, 650 twins, and perhaps 350 singles, in Thailand, to serve the Thai and southeast asian market.
