Title: Did I get lucky?
Post by: blueberry on January 01, 2010, 11:25:29 pm
NO, I didn't!! I have a 08 Electra with 3500 miles on it. ( I ride 2 other bikes also) I have had NO problems or things falling off. My bike was set up by a dealer that also builds custom choppers in the > 30,000.oo range. They pay close attention to detail. The person who set up my bike even came out to talk to me about fluids, kickstarting, and breaking in my new bike. I think a lot of the problems come from not setting up the bike right and not following break in procedure. I have made a few minor mods and added bags and a rack. So I don't think I got lucky ( by getting a good RE). I am fortunate to have found a great dealer.

If you truly found a good dealer then you should share with the rest of the community who that dealer is. Plugs are good!

Did you buy your bike from someone else and have his shop set it up for you. He is a very well known bike builder, I wouldn't have imagined that custom shop would take the time to work on a Bullet. That is way cool!

They had 6 different RE motorcycles in the showroom ! I paid $6,000.oo out the door for a 08 Electra with a parts catalog, extra tire tube, tire irons, extra cables, and a few extra tools plus a tool kit.  I ordered bags, rack, oil filters and a bunch of other stuff. Thunder Cycles treated me as if I was spending $40,000.oo on a custom bike. they are great. I also got to meet Eddie Trotta.

Well that's great to hear of how well you were treated at his shop. So anyone interested in buying a Bullet and happens to live in the Ft. Lauderdale vicinity should stop by Thunder Cycles to check out their custom bikes and maybe purchase that new Bullet they've been dreaming about and most likely meet bike building legend Eddie Trotta. That is pretty cool, good for you Blueberry. Is Thunder Cycles a full service RE dealer?

They sound great!.  Proper set up, attention to detail, and educating the customer go a looooong way to avoiding the issues too many seem to have.

If I remember they are on Sunrise...  I was down there on business a year or so ago and stopped in to look at their selection...  Its a fairly big showroom, sorta set up in a loop.   My friend and I were joking about how you could take a test drive inside.  The sales guy said I would probably hit something so I asked for the keys to prove I could do it but for some reason he refused to let me have them....

A really nice setup they have down there..  I am going to be down there for work in March so I might try to stop in and eyeball some of the Enfields..   I am even thinking of riding my RE down there for the week...
