Cycle gear has a set of hand guards on sale now for $20
that have only one bracket (no bar end mount).   The bracket
can be mounted so its either above or below the levers and
takes only 1/2" of space on the bar.   I mounted mine
between the switch gear and the mirror mounting.  With no
bar end mount these are not "crash guards", but do great
job of deflecting wind, bugs etc.
