Title: Carberry V-twin shown in Classic Bike
Post by: Chasfield on October 30, 2009, 08:18:35 pm
November's Classic Bike is out in the UK. There is a brief article with photos about the Australian built, Bullet based, Carberry 1070cc v-twin.

This looks like a really soft tuned, torquey machine, with its 6.6:1 535 top ends, and it only weighs 437 pounds. The price is likely to be around 12,600 GBP, which includes a donor Bullet, or about two thirds of that if you throw your own Bullet in.

Forgot to mention, the engine is a work of art - prettier than the one shown on this site, which I would guess is a very early proving unit.

Classic Bike don't have much of a web site these days, as far as I can tell, so no point in linking there.

Cool!

I envision it with a pair of my Mondello heads on it, with 2 sets of my 6000 rpm cams, and 2 Mikuni 32mm flat-slides!
80hp! Right up there with the new Norton 961.
Yeah!

I think that Carberry is just begging for a nicely curved 2-into-1 exhaust pipe, just like a Vincent Black Shadow.

The Carberry is a much more refined motor than the Musket. I watched a YouTube vid of the Musket Enfield and was not impressed with the pickup when throttled. Aces new motor when finished should run circles around it. Like Ace mentioned the Carberry with a set of his heads, cams and 32mm Mikuni's would really make that bike Rock & Roll. For the money a SX650 motor fitted to a Bullet will give you more bang for the buck. But I am truly a traditionalist when it comes to singles and would rather put my money into a motor like Ace is developing than some twin.

Long live British singles

If you would like to see the Carberry motor in action check out "Dec 4 fire up for malcolm pearce" on You Tube. Watch the screwdriver on the bench! Seriously though it is a beautiful motor.
I should know the first bike is mine.

I just purchased the January issue of Classic Bike Guide and they are featuring an article on the Carberry v-twin,  It would be interesting to see a comparison of the Carberry and the Musket v-twin.
