Brakes? We don't need no stinkin brakes! We have engine braking! I don't use my brakes all that often, at least up in the country where I ride........just ask GHG.
All of my trials bikes except the Beta have drum brakes front and rear, so to me the RE brakes are pretty decent!

Fair point. Roads a bit busier over here. And lots of Sunday drivers. I am surprised how spritely the 500 is. It has plenty to keep up and overtake round here. So be interested to see if I notice it loosening up. I didnt stick to 30mph for the first 350miles, just rode with the traffic flow and have been  rolling on the throttle more lately and am very happy. Wont be taking it out with my regular riding mates though, it would struggle,a bit and I'd feel like I was thrashing it. This is my private pleasure!
