Ya reckon? That would scream "neglectful owner" to me. One step away from JustRolledIn on YouTube...
I'd be either letting it leak or fixing it properly, me.

Cleaning and checking really closely where the leak comes from is a good idea though.

I would check the connections to the oil cooler as well before going after the base gasket. How many miles and how hard do you ride?

It doesnt look like a lot of work to fix a leak like that. I still have to put my leaking Suzuki together again though and they are more akward. A twin  is a lot easier for working on.

Just a heads up since it hasn't been mentioned: in the ongoing long-distance test of a German motorcycle magazine, they had the base gasket blow out, too. Might be worth mentioning it to a dealer even if it is just out of warranty - they might be reasonable if it's a "known" problem.
If not - wouldn't be an overly difficult job if you get all the gaskets and have a decent torque wrench.

And remember boys and girls, it's not just torque, but another 270° on the wrench, so you'll either need a degree wheel or a wrench that measures degrees from your zero point.

Even if you don't have the correct equipment to dial in the 270 part.....mark the end of the bolt with sharpie then from there 3/4 turn with another little mark on the head.   Turn bolt until marks align...job done!

Park your bike facing North.
Apply spanner.
Turn bike anticlockwise until it is facing East.

I have cleaned and dried the area well and run the bike, it is definitely coming from the cylinder base.
I contacted RE UK and they have told me to book the bike into the dealership for assessment and tell them to contact RE by submitting a warranty claim.
No guarantee they will pay it but it’s a possibility, I’m happy with that outcome so far.
I’ll contact the dealer today and let you know how it goes after the assessment.

Don’t know why you’d ‘blow’ a cylinder base gasket. There’s bugger-all pressure in the cases to do that.
I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy...

My take is that it hasn't blown out but is leaking. There's probably an oil return in that area and the gasket just isn't sealing.
