Title: your favorite replacement rear chain?
Post by: dustystranger on January 23, 2014, 12:39:32 am
I am ready for my third rear chain.  And I sure would appreciate any feedback from riders about their experience.  I know there are riders out there who have replaced more chains than me.  Share your wisdom!

You'll need a # 530 chain.
Tsubaki and D.I.D. are two good brands.

You will have to count the number of links in your existing chain.  Start with the master link and go from there.
If your chain has an odd number of links like 103 or 101, you will need a "half link" to get the correct number.

Chains are sold in even number links so you may have to break the new chain to get it to the right length.

Some folks like the O-Ring or X-Ring chains which cost a lot more.
IMO, unless your riding is in a very dirty area, paying the extra money isn't worth it but, to each their own. :)
