Here's an article from team Revzilla on one of the all time great motorbikes. It's funny how all the things they say make the SR500 great, or at least don't matter, are the same things Royal Enfield motorbikes (real ones, singles I mean) are roundly derided for 😂.

Never sold long enough in the US to have much impact.

They are very popular in Australia as Cafe Racers,

I owned a 1978 SR500F for a few years. I really liked the bike. It was very smooth, started easily and handled well. Unfortunately, its engine parts wore out rapidly, especially the rings and cam chain.  :(

In Australia you can often pick up cafe modified versions second hand for around the price of a new meteor ...
