Title: 2022 EICMA Milan Motorcycle show
Post by: Richard230 on November 08, 2022, 02:49:08 pm
Here is a summary by brand of the new and updated motorcycle models displayed at the 2022 EICMA Milan Motorcycle show this week:  https://www.motorcycle.com/events/eicma-2022-milan-motorcycle-show-coverage. I see that Royal Enfield is not mentioned in the article. Perhaps they didn't provide Motorcycle.com a press release package of their new models.  ???

Nothing too exciting, other than Kawasaki's "zero emission" concepts and prototypes:  https://www.motorcycle.com/new-model-preview/kawasaki-reveals-electric-hybrid-and-hydrogen-powered-prototypes.html

There is more news regarding Kawasaki's "carbon neutral" motorcycle plans. Apparently in 2023 they will market a small urban/suburban electric motorcycle (as compared with Honda's scooter) and in 2024 they plan to introduce what looks to be a highway-capable ICE/electric hybrid. However, during the next few years they also plan to market 30 new ICE models, with about half meeting EU requirements. Here is the story:  https://thepack.news/kawasaki-reveals-carbon-neutrality-plans-at-eicma-go-with-green-power/

Horex Regina Evo: Carbon-framed single-cylinder retro breaks cover
German firm Horex, who are best known for their six-cylinder VR6 naked range, have revealed a striking new single cylinder retro at the Intermot trade show in Cologne, complete with a carbon fibre frame.
Called the Regina Evo, the bike takes its name from a machine first introduced by the Landsberg am Lech-based company back in 1950, with the first 100 units of the new model featuring the monocoque carbon chassis.
Designed to mimic the look of the original Regina, which continued to develop until 1955, the swingarm, seat holder and bracket, front and rear mudguards, and headlight cover will also be finished in carbon, with the petrol tank arriving in polished aluminium. The original Regina came without rear suspension and so the Evo’s rear shock is mounted beneath the rider’s seat and shrouded by elements of the frame – ensuring the necessary movement whilst giving the impression of a hardtail. The seat itself is also produced using 3D printing and can be altered between 790 and 810mm.
Although frames of this material have traditionally been reserved for high-performance motorcycles like BMW’s 215bhp HP4 Race and the 221bhp Ducati Superleggera V4, the carbon-clad Horex gets a more pedestrian 600cc 4V DOHC single making a claimed 47bhp.
Compatible with an A2 licence, power is then fed to the ground via a six-speed manual gearbox, with 39.9lbft of torque also available to shift the claimed 133kg dry weight.
Away from the motor, the Evo also gets a full LED front cornering headlight, which has been designed to sit in an H as a tribute to the brand. There’s also a rounded three-inch colour display with touch screen control for your need-to-know information.
Rolling on 18in chrome-look spoked rims complete with Metzeler Lasertec rubber, you also get dual two-piston Beringer front calipers that bite onto 260mm discs. There’s even cornering ABS and traction control on offer, which can be pared back to just conventional ABS (needed to meet Euro5 requirements) for a more simplistic feel.
So then, why all that carbon for a bike making less than 50 horsepower? Horex is a member of the 3C-Carbon Group AG, – a collective of companies specialising in building components for the automotive, mechanical engineering, medical and aerospace sectors. No prices are yet available for the Regina Evo, but it’s safe to assume it won’t be cheap.

I've read somewhere 25k € or $, I don't remember. Pretty ridiculous price for the beauty it is.  ;D

Low volumes, and some exotic materials, CrMo would be too cheap.

Too expensive, I would need to spend another 5k$ to have it rebuilt into propper CrMo tube frame.  ;)

More like THESE two? ;D

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/new-bikes/mac-rex/
British bike firm Mac Motorcycles have revealed the Rex – a second single-cylinder model – ahead of both bikes’ public debut at this year’s Motorcycle Live show.
The upright machine shares the same tubular steel backbone frame, SWM-produced 600cc motor and ancillaries as Mac’s Ruby café racer, which MCN reported on in July. The 2022 NEC show from November 19-27 will be the first time the bikes will be seen by the public.

But it’s not just the famous names of old making waves, with multiple smaller teams now taking the plunge. This includes Mac Motorcycles, who are aiming to bring a production-ready version of their British-built ‘Ruby’ café racer to this year’s Motorcycle Live, at the Birmingham NEC from November 19-27.
“We are diehards about motorcycles,” co-founder Ellis Pitt told MCN. The 55-year-old began working on the brand in 2009 and was later joined by former Jaguar Land Rover powertrain engineer Ian Oliver in 2017 to create a running one-off prototype machine.

If you ever wondered what a Zeeho looked like....

ZEEHO, the innovative subsidiary brand of CFMOTO, participated in this year’s EICMA in Milan. In a November 8 press conference at the Milan show, CFMOTO was proud to reveal the ZEEHO AE series electric scooters and the all-new electric scooter, Magnet Concept.

ZEEHO is dedicated to urban mobility trends, aiming to better meet the demands of the new generation in Gen-Z. Breaking with convention and creating infinite possibilities are the core principles of ZEEHO. The unequal symbol present in the logo reflects these concepts and challenges the new generation to take chances, and be daring, interactive, and impactful.

ZEEHO aims to lead the mobility and commuting trend. The product line is defined by three main directives: high-quality mobility for users who put style and comfort in the first place, high-cool mobility specifically designed for the urban jungle, and high-tech mobility which is the combination of technology, performance, and connectivity. It all adds up to leading the trend of mobility to meet the demands of Gen-Z, the young generation deeply entrenched in intelligence and technology. Over 10 new products will be launched within the ZEEHO line by 2025.

Magnet Concept: The Next Step in High-Tech Mobility
Magnet Concept, an exclusive within the ZEEHO high-tech mobility group, is the highlight of ZEEHO at EICMA. Magnet means electricity. The Magnet Concept is a new vision mixing top performances, high technology, and unique design. The family feeling of ZEEHO is not just a design feature. It works to create a language and philosophy that aims at high positioning.

t is not just a scooter, the space shuttle-style body, new lights, functional wings, and intelligent dashboard make it unique. Electricity is the core of the Magnet Concept. A full set of swapped lithium batteries is visible and show off the cutting-edge technology. As magnets generate energy inside EV motors, this concept model will drive us into the future of commuting.
The key to ensuring market dominance is high performance:
Max speed: ≥ 150 km/h
0-50 km/h acceleration: ≤ 2.5 s
NEDC range: 200 km
The front and rear high-definition cameras support drive assistance devices. High-tech enables voice and touch control and connects with ZEEHO APP. The adjustable kinetic energy recovery allows for single-throttle control. TCS and ABS make it for a safer ride. Magnet Concept provides a user-centric experience driven by technology and intelligence, making it the perfect choice for high-tech mobility.

ZEEHO Makes Life Amplified
ZEEHO starts with mobility, but that’s not where it ends. ZEEHO feasts our eyes with an urban style, such as the urban explorer helmets, the wearing collections, and other fashionable accessories, designed to suit a variety of riding styles and fashion. The fabric of ZEEHO riding outfits is 100% environmentally friendly, reflecting the ultimate pursuit of sustainability at ZEEHO.

"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings...look on my works ye mighty & despair..."...maybe Despair might have been a better name than Zeeho?

"Life Amplified"? "Deeply entrenched in intelligence..."? Gimmee a break. A lot of them can't SPELL entrenched or find Montana (or Canada) on a map.

When I first saw Tron I thought "Ah Oh - this can't be good".

But it's OK, I guess. It's just What's Next while we continue to shut down, demonize & criminalize the oil & gas sectors on the alter of global warming.

I'll go get my Nomex on now.

That Zeeho ground Magnet sure looks a lot like BMW's new electric scooter that was introduced last year - and has yet to be featured at any of my local BMW dealers.  ::)

Vmoto VS3 cargo scooter. The cargo carrier doesn't look very secure, especially when hitting a big bump. I think Honda made something articulated like that years ago: https://thepack.news/vmoto-fleet-presents-the-new-three-wheeled-cargo-escooter-vs3-at-eicma/

@ #12: Oil and Gas are just resources, like sunlight & wind. Most petro is from leased public land. The issue is when decoupled, mercenary folks that already have more spending cash than God skew the system for even more control over the game. Money is just a game at the stratospheric income levels, money/net worth are tokens of status, with zero relationship to their survival. They'll never miss a meal, they'll never get evicted and have to live in a car or cardboard box. They lose touch. You cannot extract the amounts of money from the whole system they do and not have it affect the base survival of the other 95% of us. Tax rates in the 50's were in the 90% range for some of these folks monies and there wasn't a millionaire shortage then.

I think it's absurd that oil companies have shown windfalls for the last year and it took the President threatening them to get them to back off even a little bit on fuel price. Food companies are the same, the farmers aren't buying yachts, but the middlemen seem to be doing well. $6 per 1/2 gallon of milk and $7 a pound for hamburger make it real hard on folks with kids. If you squeeze folks hard enough, eventually they grab torches & pitchforks. Common sense, history & self preservation says don't go there.

Getting back to Zeeho, apparently sometimes the Board of Directors son just needs a job he can showcase his Art School degree on... :o 8)

but but ... according to neo-liberal economic rationalism if we give those supermarkets and oil companies big tax cuts and government subsidies and eliminate any laws restricting their profits, the trickle down effect will be all those struggling poor people will become millionaires  :D

That's why I like it here - always learning something. I only knew it as "Reaganomics". It's funny that the name implies or connotes some connection to "liberal" politics. A win-win: If it succeeds the conservatives are uniters & inclusive, if it crashes somehow it's the "liberals" fault. It's also a great methodology to accelerate social decay, if that's your intent.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/neoliberalism.asp
Neoliberalism: What It Is, With Examples and Pros and Cons
Neoliberalism is a policy model that encompasses both politics and economics. It favors private enterprise and seeks to transfer the control of economic factors from the government to the private sector.
Many neoliberal policies concern the efficient functioning of free market capitalism and focus on limiting government spending, government regulation, and public ownership.
Neoliberalism is often associated with the leadership of Margaret Thatcher, the prime minister of the U.K. from 1979 to 1990 (and leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990) and Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the U.S. from 1981 to 1989.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
The policies of neoliberalism typically support fiscal austerity, deregulation, free trade, privatization, and a reduction in government spending.
Neoliberalism is often associated with the economic policies of Margaret Thatcher in the United Kingdom and Ronald Reagan in the United States.
There are many criticisms of neoliberalism, including its potential danger to democracy, workers’ rights, and sovereign nations’ right to self-determination.
It's also been accused of giving corporations too much power and worsening economic inequality.
However, neoliberal initiatives concerning free trade, industry deregulation, income tax and capital gains tax cuts all had bipartisan support. (Surprise! Big Money protects itself first and nobody likes rules that limit their behavior, especially folks that get to write the rules.)

>>The average increase in net worth in the Top 100 was 114% per year.[4]
Of the "Top 100", 56 are Republicans, 43 are Democrats and one is an Independent.
In total, the (2004) study looks at 320 Republicans, 296 Democrats and two Independents.<<

Liberalism vs. Neoliberalism
At its core, liberalism is a broad political philosophy. It holds liberty to a high standard and defines all social, economic, and political aspects of society, including the role of government.
Neoliberalism is essentially an economic ideology. The policies of neoliberalism are more narrowly focused and are primarily concerned with markets and the policies and measures that influence the economy.
Criticism of Neoliberalism
There are many criticisms of neoliberalism.
Misguided Free Market Approach to Public Services
One common criticism of neoliberalism is that advocating for a free market approach in areas such as health and education is misguided because these services are public services. Public services are not subject to the same profit motivation as other industries.
More importantly, adopting a free market approach in the areas of health and education can lead to an increase in inequality and the underfunding of resources (health and education) that are necessary for the long-term health and viability of an economy.
Monopolies
The adoption of neoliberal policies in the Western world has run concurrent with a rise in inequality in both wealth and income. While skilled workers may be in a position to command higher wages, low-skilled workers are more likely to see stagnant wages.
Policies associated with neoliberalism tend to encourage the presence of monopolies, which increase the profits of corporations at the expense of benefits to consumers.
Increased Financial Instability
Contrary to what proponents of neoliberalism typically claim, capital deregulation has not necessarily helped economic development. Rather, capital deregulation has led to an increase in financial instability including economic events that, at times, have sent shockwaves around the world.
In fact, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report into neoliberalism reveals that an increase in capital flows has been a factor in the increased risk of adverse economic cycles.
Inequality
Neoliberal policies have been proven to increase inequality.
This inequality can hinder the long-term growth prospects of an economy. On one end of the spectrum, those who earn a low income have limited spending power. At the same time, those who become richer have a higher propensity to save.
In the latter scenario, wealth doesn't trickle down in the way that proponents of neoliberalism claim that it will.
Globalization
Finally, neoliberalism's emphasis on economic efficiency has encouraged globalization, which opponents see as depriving sovereign nations of the right to self-determination.
Neoliberalism's naysayers also claim that its call to replace government-owned corporations with private ones can reduce efficiency. While privatization may increase productivity, they assert, the improvement may not be sustainable because of the world’s limited geographical space.
In addition, those opposed to neoliberalism add that it is anti-democratic, can lead to exploitation and social injustice, and may criminalize poverty.
What Is Neoliberalism in Simple Terms?
It's an economic model or philosophy that emphasizes that, in a free society, greater economic and social progress can be made when government regulation is minimized, government spending and taxes are reduced, and the government doesn't have strict control over the economy. Neoliberalism does not oppose all government intervention. However, it does wish to see it limited to only when it's necessary to support free markets and free enterprise.
What Are the Effects of Neoliberalism?
Some effects might be freer markets, access to more products and services to meet consumer demand, greater revenue and higher profits. Price reductions due to greater competition can also be an effect. Savings can result from a more efficient allocation of resources. The better organization of workforces and ability to hire needed talent for specific jobs can result from neoliberal policies, as well. Others might point out some of the negative effects believed to be associated with neoliberalism. These could include economic inequality, the growth of monopolies, a lack of job security, the loss of jobs due to outsourcing, and an increasing indifference to the needs and well-being of individuals.
What Is an Example of Neoliberalism?
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is one example. By this agreement, Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. agreed to remove all trade restrictions between their countries to open up trade and increase the economic benefits for each.
