Title: Alloy Jugs?
Post by: geichal on November 13, 2007, 08:49:28 pm
How durable are the alloy cylinder as compared to iron?  I am trying to build my bike to be as reliable as possible while incorporating modest performance mods.  It seems that since heat is the primary cause of failure in the big singles, the faster heat dissipation of an alloy jug would make sense.  Anyone with personal experience?
Thanks!

Don't forget that the alloy cylinders have a cast iron sleeve so they are every bit as durable as a cast iron one. They do cool better, enough to make a difference on a hot day.
