Title: Rubber quill seal.
Post by: Seipgam on January 11, 2019, 06:54:10 am
I have replaced the old ratty cork quill seal with a rubber one from an Indian gasket set.
Has anyone had issues with these?
I have run the bike for half an hour or so and checked the seal again - all looks good.
Just wondering if I should have any concerns with using the rubber type.

Cheers, Geoff.

I use the same seal without a problem. It's easier to change than the bonded-in-worm version.

I have sold all three types. While cork works I find it to be a short term solution. The rubber plug works OK and the moulded in worm nut/seal unit may be the best. In all cases they should be considered a wear part. All of the bikes sold in the US had the worm nut/seal installed. If your bike has something else it was either not a US bike or someone changed it
