Personally, I tend to think that the spin is a little optimistic regarding the claimed specifications of this electric motorcycle. But I guess we will see what happens later this year.

Interesting that the battery package and motor development has progressed to such an advanced stage AND Triumph's tech. partners are willing to show these cards, while the images of the complete bike are early stage industrial design renderings. If what Williams' and Integral Powertrains' spokesmen said was true, and that a big component of the development was getting the weight distribution perfected, this suggests that the entire machine must be pretty well defined, at least in the virtual CAD domain. Can't blame Triumph for wanting to keep the cat in the bag though. I hope they loose the scary super villain eyes in the production version though.
80% of 15kW in 20 minutes is 36kW-Hr. No idea what the pack voltage is, but probably around 300 - 400 VDC. If my math is correct, that means charging at something like 100 amps, which means infrastructure. From what I've read in another thread, there may be currently be some issue with a lack of charging stations in the UK? I was surprised at how many charging stations were around me, in places I drive past every day and never noticed.
The transition may be painful, but eventually charging ports will be as common as parking meters downtown. These will obediently dispense the invisible juice, in exchange for nothing more than pulling out your phone and touching an icon on the screen. Another thing they will be able to do, that no gas pump can, is to uniquely identify each vehicle that plugs in, bad if you are a keeping a low profile, but a nice feature if your bike was stolen.

They adress one of the major design faults of current E-Bikes: Lack of fast charging capability. That is good.
Range and endurance of the power train is next.

My guess is that the various videos that have been dumped on the internet at the end of March have much to do with the project needing another round of government financing. ;)

+1, this kind of projects are ALL about gob. financing. Soon the vehicle industry as a whole will apply for a "Marshall Plan". ;)

Yea well that's another version of big brother track and trace technology, when that time comes we will be a cashless totalitarian controlled state, very much like china, l don't know why these western governments rant about them they have a great deal in common when it comes to civil liberties.

I don't believe that government fiat money will have that position. It's days are numbered. Today's monetary goons are driving people around the world to blockchain technology. Stupid governments can't control digital currency. The big hand writing is on the wall.

I am just not convinced that we will be seeing a Triumph electric motorcycle on the consumer market at a price that most enthusiasts can afford any time soon - and especially not this year or likely the next, either. ???

....it probably is a better idea to develop an extreamly expensive e-motorcycle with out of the world specs and sell it as a one or two-off to some arabic prince than to try to reach any larger customer groups.

Even without the fast charging the range would be sufficient for a lot of riders considering the fact many will essentially wake up to a "full tank" every morning anyway.

Speaking of full electric tanks, I checked the "mileage" of my Zero today. I was able to travel 75 miles and it took 8.7 kWh @ 26 cents a kWh to go that distance, costing $2.26. The same ride on one of my motorcycles that get 50 mpg @ $4.04 per gallon for regular fuel would cost $6.06. Your results may differ, especially if you don't live near San Francisco and ride a 70 mpg Royal Enfield. ;)

Ditto on the range anxiety, I routinely ride 250 to 300 miles on a Sunday, and most weekday rides are over 100 miles. E-bikes at this stage of the game are just impractical. Besides the ICE ticks all the boxes for me. An e-bike or car, not so much.

Personally, I think electric motorcycles and scooters are great for commuting when you know exactly how many miles you will be traveling each day. :)

I agree, I thought a lot about an EV before I retired. I worked an evening shift at Connecticut Light and Power. It was a 16 mile round trip and we had plenty of charging stations there, so there would have been no logistical problems, but given that I was already thinking about retiring it didn't make fiscal sense to invest in an EV that I'd only use for commuting for just a year or 16 months. :)

They are great for CCCP style central planning economies too, like the European North Korea = Sweden where everything goes accordingly to a higher plan. ;)
Atleast until someone finds the planning gods and chopps the heads off.
