Title: Tire Questions
Post by: Old and In the Way on November 28, 2012, 06:48:02 pm
A couple of question on tires –
A year and a half ago I put K70s on my 04 Bullet, and the rear was used up in just under 4000 miles. Since then I bought an 11 B5 and the O4 is used now primarily for bombing around on the gravel roads. The first question is can I expect significant higher mileage out of the K70s on gravel with speeds averaging 35-45 as opposed to hard surface with speeds between 45-55?
The B5 now has about 8000 miles on it and the ribbed front Speedmaster will need replacing soon but the rear will be good for another couple thousand miles. The second question is will using a K70 on the front with the original rear be OK?

I don't know how you put up with the Skidmasters for 8000 miles, front or rear!
I think you might get some really weird steering with a K70 on the front and that truck tire on the rear. I wouldn't recommend it.

I've got about 300 miles on my G5 with the 3.25 X 19, K70 on the front and the old Avon truck tire on the back.
So far at speeds up to 75 no unusual problems have come up but then, I don't carve corners with my bike so I can't say what would happen if I ran the Road Course at Phoenix International Raceway with it. :)

Bare: Yup I found the front skidmaster pretty much The Shits with 8k on it..I got around to changing it  at the 10k mark cause I couldn't stand to look at the worn out tread wear anymore.  :oGM
