Title: Old News?
Post by: hpwaco on September 15, 2018, 09:48:54 pm
The Sept/Oct issue of MOTORCYCLIST has an 8 page article/photo spread on riding the Himalayan in the abandoned REWARD gold and silver mine in eastern California (  desert?  ).    Lots of kudos to RE.

Yup. Old news and the article was apparently whitewashed by Motorcyclist magazine when you compare it with the original, much longer article, published on-line by the author. Any disparaging comments regarding the Himalayan were removed by the editors, such as its top speed, which differs from what is mentioned in the magazine article.  ???

The Himmy is a nice bike

Took a test ride on a Himmy the other day. Agree with most testers regarding the general "rightness" of the bike. Sweet shifter, suspension, engine OK (new,so kept RPM low), ergo's generally fine. Here goes the negatives: The stock screen buffeted me mercilessly unless i sat bolt upright, it was set in it's highest position. The front brake felt very wooden, and, break in not withstanding, it defiantly needs more power. In conclusion RE did most things right but i could not own just this bike, especially after riding my 750 Shiver for the last year.
Cheers, Roverman.
