Title: Military Tires
Post by: LarsBloodbeard on November 09, 2012, 08:21:35 pm
I know there's already a lot of threads about tires in here, but I can't seem to find what I want.

I'm looking for something that's got really rugged lugs, but not spaced super far apart like pure off road tires.  Something where the tread extends far out to the sides of the tire.  It's really more for stylistic reasons.  I want my bike to look more rugged and military-like.

This would be perfect: http://photos.imageevent.com/motorbiker/newspics3/Military-Motorcycle-01.jpg

Anyone have any ideas?

Those look like the Avon Distancias. Now, as for sizes, I'm not sure how small they go, and they may have been superceded by a later model. But the look is there!

They look very much like these, which seem to be available in the 18" sizes on the C5 Military.

I like the look.  And they're dirt cheap!

These tires from Duro have a military look.

The Duro HF308 looks like an old Pirelli, and the Hf316 looks like a K70. But their sizes are awfully limited. No 19s at all. Very limited 18s

Wrong! Go to the link and turn the page.

Also the Duro 308's are used on Ural motorcycles. Definitely a military design motorcycle.

I am running an Ensign Universal road tyre on the front, as per Hitchcocks tyres and wheels page.

Really rugged and quite cheap.

Avon Distanzia was my first thought.  I know Continental has a wide variety of dual-sport tires but dunno what's in 19".

K70s have a good look on my Military but probably not the side-lugged kind of thing you're going for...they're pretty good on dirt despite it, though!
