Title: Diamond Engine Bar on G5 but voltage rectifier in the way !!
Post by: singhg5 on March 20, 2010, 09:00:54 pm
I got a Diamond Engine bar (part no. Z90297) and was mounting it to my G5.  The lower part of the bar has two 'ears' sticking out that I attached to the holes in the frame.  But the upper part of the bar was hitting the rectifier.  I removed the voltage rectifier and attached the engine bar to the frame with the clamp that comes with the bar.

Then I could not put back the voltage rectifier to the frame because the bar was in the way. Went to the hardware store and bought two long M6 x 1.00 x 40 bolts and two 1/2 inch spacer tubes and improvised to attach the rectifier to the frame.  The clamp for rectifier is fixed to the frame, cannot be moved.  Checked that handle bar lock was not hitting rectifier, engine bar was not touching anything else, had to adjust clutch cable a bit and went for a short test ride.

My question is how did you mount the diamond engine bar to G5 or Electra without hitting the voltage rectifier ?  Have a look at the pictures and let me know any suggestions or advice.  Thanks in advance.

The rectifier was installed so that the wires were at the top of it. The rectifier was left loosely mounted until the engine guard was mounted and then it was tightened up. I've done several of them with no problems. Good fix on your bike tho ....

Excellent RE-engineering.  I swear I have to that with almost every accessory I buy for our 2 beauties.  Ain't saying we all are genius rated..just saying.

I like your idea too. That is another way to solve the problem as it does not require extra parts and is quick.
Thanks.
