Thanks Ace.  Had wanted something like this for a while.  He wanted $1200 for some time, new paint, tires, clutches, water pump and seals.  He shorted the alternator to regulator harness.  Think he thinks he hung it on me.

Two feet of wire/solder/little bit of time rendered it fully operational.  Had to replace side covers since he had superglued them together (what a knob).  Got a pair from a local bike bone yard and now she is sleek and trim.

Actually planning on this as a replacement to my 1500CC Drifter.  Will probably put it up for sale next spring.   Will.

The old cx 500 had a tough motor.  known in the London motorcycle circles as the "poor man's BMW".

Hey Pozer I'll let you ride it if you want to.  Thanks, the old diesel mechanic comes out every now and then.  Actually thought maybe wasn't such a good idea but went to one of the "Wing" sites and found it's a standard factory repair.

We call it the poor mans Moto Guzzi aoround these parts.  But all the same in sentiment.  If this one is a tough as one my buddy has I hope to turn 200K before a rebuild.  Will.

Yep, you done good. Many times you gotta be careful with "basket case" electronics.
But good powers of deduction would surmise that a man that would super glue side panels probably has other simple fixes on the bike that far beyond his abilities .
Yep, stealing candy from a baby. :D

Yes sir I almost feel bad..he could have got his asking price if he would have actually fixed little problems.  My Grandfather who was a tool and die maker used to say a box of tools doesn't make a mechanic.  Guess I see it more everyday.  Will.
