My bikes tank has just Enfield on it,
Every other bike I see has Royal Enfield
Any reason? year of manufacture? Previous owner?

Enfield India didn't aquire the full name "Royal Enfield" until the early 2000s I think... yours must be a 90s bullet? Either that or its an early tank.

I believe they didn't have the rights to the "Royal" part of Royal Enfield until fairly recently-like a few years ago.

An independent manufacturer since the demise of Royal Enfield in England, Enfield India still makes an essentially similar bike in 350 cc and 500 cc forms today, along with several different models for different market segments. In 1986 UK civil servant Raja Narayan, returned to India and organised an export arm for the company to market the Bullet in England. Starting with a 350 in 1986, he was soon giving feedback that led to improvements. By 1989 the Enfield Bullet appeared in UK motorcycle shows.
In 1994 Eicher Group bought into Enfield India. In late 1995, the Enfield India firm acquired the rights to the name Royal Enfield. Royal Enfield of India now sells motorcycles in over twenty countries.

1995? really? There are parts on my fathers bike, a 2002, that still only say "enfield, or EI"... the tank says Royal Enfield though. Interesting, they must of had one hell of a parts back log.

My guess is that some parts that have the name cast in wouldn't have been changed because it wasn't worth it to update the molds.
But the name on the tank and fork is just paint or decals so the cost to change was nominal.

My 99 Bullet is an Enfield, The only thing Royal about it is royal pain in the ass
