Title: RE 350 hitting 8000 RPM [video]
Post by: Bullet Whisperer on March 24, 2014, 02:25:53 pm
Sorry about the poor sound quality in this video, but it gives a good idea of what was happening. When I speak, I am telling Henchy [my Brother, who was filming this] that I will get her pulling from 4000 RPM up to 8000 RPM in top gear, this took her to about 107 MPH on the low gearing fitted at the time, the gearing was raised later, for a top speed of around 115 MPH.
 Enjoy, I did  ;D

I am not a member of Facebook.
Is it possible to link a non-Facebook way to view?

Hi Ace,
I will try and get it fixed, I thought it would be a link anyone could view it on.

Paul - Its because you posted it to Performance Classics page.  You have to be a member of the page to view anything there.  I did watch it on fb this morning tho.  Pretty bad ass!

Glad you like it, Ace! The little 350 is great fun to ride and handles and stops pretty well too. If we ever stop racing [very unlikely], this machine will be going on the road, to give me great pleasure  ;D.
The irony is that R.E. could have built something like this in the early sixties, to be a 'Big Brother' to the 250cc Continental GT - what a line up they could have had, topped off with the 500 Fury and the big twins. A 350 R.E. like this would have walked all over the BSA B40 SS90 and the Triumph T90, no problem. Ah well, what might have been ...

I showed Alex this video earlier this morning, he was blown away that the bike is only a 350.  I also showed him the dummy piston for the 500 and his response was "What the f#+k?!  Damn!"   ;D

Hi Scottie, just remember, you are building what is essentially two of these, side by side in one frame - with a blower and other mods - for your Landspeed machine. I reckon that could be a pretty hot ride!  8) 8)

I reckon you are correct.   8)     Sending out the conrod to R&R in Illinois tomorrow afternoon to have some custom steel H-Beam rods fabbed up.  Took a little while to get the ball rolling, but I'm ready to start pulling some triggers.    :)

So if you can get a 350 to do The Ton, then it should be safe to say that my blown twin should be knocking on the door of the 200 Club.   ;D

It all depends on the aerodynamics. Overcoming drag requires exponential power increases.
Working on reducing drag pays the biggest dividends in LSR racing.

I reckon you are correct as well.  :D

There's a couple different full fairings I'm looking at once I break a couple unfaired records.
