Title: One thing you love about the new 650 twins?
Post by: Dr Mayhem on May 10, 2019, 09:04:56 pm
That I can adjust the valves with only a screwdriver, feeler gauges and a 8mm (I think) wrench. Technically advanced bike with easy to adjust valves, got to love it  :)

With synthetic oil and the predicted quality of the engine we may never have to break out the feeler gauge  :)

True that!.. wouldn't be :o... LoL
Also nice to see the swivel elephant feet adjusters and the cam roller followers. I predict 100,000 miles easy, no problem if it's taken care of

That as long as it is reliable and doesn't require "fussing" it will take RE to the next level at hyper speed. I do believe that the quality will be by far the best RE has ever put out. The Himalayan is good proof of that.

Howdy all, is it me or has anybody else noticed that the
amount of oil required when carrying  out  an oil change  (  as stated in the  owners handbooks )  is different if you convert Imperial to Metric or vice versa ?

hi, service manual shows 3.1 liters = .68 imperial gallons or .82 US gallons and that seems to be correct. Doesn't the owners manual show likewise?

3.1 liters of oil equals 3.275 quarts of oil which is how it is sold in the US. We are used to it never being an even number and being left extra oil.
Same as hot dogs being packaged in quantities of 12 and hot dog buns only being packaged in quantities of 8

Evening all. Owners manual ses routine  oil change  :
3.1 litres or 0.82 Imp gallons, your absolutely correct as
3.1 litres is .68 Imp gal. Whereas .82 Imp is 3.7 litres.
Having just done an oil change the old fashioned way I was curious why it took slightly  more than advertised.
Don't want any new owners running their bikes low on the slippery stuff. Ta ta.

I also LOVE that RE didn't get cute with the cooling fin faces like Harley, Triumph, others have  ;)

I can't recall for sure, but did RE leave out everyone's favorite cooling fin rubber noise dampers on the 650 that they love to install on the Bullets, which as far as I can tell don't do a thing?   ::)
