Title: decal removal
Post by: jonapplegate on January 05, 2008, 02:58:56 am
Hey everyone! I need advice on the best way to remove the stock decals. Some that came on the bike are just not going to do anymore. I gotta add some personality! So what advice can the other esteemed Bulleteers give me?

I think the decals are under clearcoat, could be wrong, but they seem deep.

It sounds like I will have to remove the tool box covers, strip and repaint them, then add new decals before a new layer of clearcoat is applied. Does this sound accurate?

you'll likely be OK just sanding the boxes smooth, priming, and painting. If the OEM paint is in decent shape the new paint'll stick just fine. Stripping to bare metal is a PITA, although if you're a perfectionist, have at it!

alright, that is some good advice about just sanding and repainting. I will try and fight the urge to go all perfectionist.
