Can’t wait to hear your opinion on them after you’ve formed one!
Well it didn't take long to form an opinion, about 75 miles, on one of my favorite "test roads".
During the ride I briefly thought about how to answer your question. That is to answer it with out sounding like a wanna-be moto journo. I'll put it this way. I'm more pleased than I hoped for.
You have read me say multiple times that there is nothing Wrong with the RE650 as delivered in its OEM state.
The Andreani suspension was a big step forward as would be even a more simple treatment of new fork oil and spacers. The new tires are equally as big a leap. It now rides like a full sized motorcycle.
The increase in size is not all that much. But gone are those thought-ghosts generated by twitches, grooves, lean vagueness and straight line wandering. It becomes all those words that the jurno crowd use to describe a bike that has its shit together. Chiefly, what these particular tires offer is high spec sidewall construction and a very round cross section profile. That profile allows a ultra smooth transition from left to right without a pronounced stop in between.
So I'll stop trying to type and talk with my hands at the same time. I'm not pimping for Avon tyres. There are other brands with round profiles and larger contact patches. Upgrading the tires has made this the bike I wanted to buy.
