I was wondering if it would be possible to remove the C5 kne pads and if the finish under there is presentable.  If they can be non-destructively removed (and my bike is not brand new if that matters) I thought the bike might look nice without them.

Anyone?

I'm sure they are glued on, WD40 liberally applied will usually soften glue up if parked in the sun for a while.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

You can remove it and it wont destroy the paint. Pads are fixed after the paint work is done so the surface will be as good as rest of the tank. Just be very gentle while peeling off the pads.

Thanks guys.  I figured WD-40 or another similar gentle sticker remover and a hair dryer should work them off without too much trouble.

Thanks for for the photo!

I guess after so many years owning a Dark Monster I really like shiny bits now :)

I'm with you Bob, the shape of that tank is too pretty to hide underneath the knee pads.  I'm still jealous of all the hand pinstriping the G5 guys get on their tanks.
