Have you taken it for a spin?  Any notable differences in the handling?

Thanks for the pictures.  Could I trouble you for a wider shot of the whole bike with the lowering kit on it?

I saw it. It looks good but not so noticeable when parked on the centerstand.

Thanks for all the response and help.  The more I look at them the more I am torn.  While the C5 at first glance looks older (and I really like the tank detail with the knee pads and the toolbox/tinwork within the frame), the side profile of the C5 just looks so small in comparison to the G5.  The older bikes (the years they based the C5 on) have a more flowing look to them....they look longer/lower.... Is there really that much of a difference between the two frames (G5/C5), or is it purely optical?  Thanks.

The C5 has 18" wheels front and rear.
G5 has 19 front and 18 rear.
C5 has a lower seat height and has a nice feel on the freeway, solid, almost lazy cruiser like steering, but solid. For a newer rider or someone who putts a bit, this gives a lot of confidence and warm fuzzy feelings.

The G5 feels like a Yamaha 650 twin from the mid/late 70's. Handles very nice in the twisties, has better ground clearance for spirited riding, awesome brake for when you ride too quickly.  With the slightly shorter gearing it has a bit more oomph from a stoplight. When in the twisties, it doesnt really ride like it's looking for a fight, but half wishes one would pop up.

You need to ride both and buy the one that suits YOU.
If your local dealer doesnt have 2 demos to ride, drive to Fresno, ride both, and buy the one that makes you grin the most.

I'll do something for your time and gas you spent should you buy one here.

Dont wait too long as the first 100 are getting low.

I agree with Big Al - ride both and buy the one that suits you.  After all you are goint to ride it for many years.

Both tyres of G5 - the front and the rear - are 19 inches.  The front is 3.25 x 19 and the rear is 3.5 x 19.

!!!!
I stand corrected, The G5 indeed has 19" front and rear.
Seat ht on the C5 is listed at 31.5"      G5 is 32.3

Thanks for the replies.  I agree with you guys, its just really hard for me to get to a dealer (been trying to get to my local "big" dealer for a month now) and I am trying to gather as much information as I can so when I do have the opportunity to visit the dealer I can spend less time comparing the two bikes on things like frame design and ride height.  Visually, everything is a platform for customization for me so I am trying to make sure the bike I get not only mechanically suits me but also has the potential to look the way I want it.
Al,  thanks for the offer.  Once I get in to ride the bikes I will send you an email with what I want and see if we can work something out.  I would much rather support someone that supports the community (RE forum in this case) than someone that just sells things.

With the BMW's or the Enfields, we promote the customer buying from his or her local dealer and hope other shops do the same. (hope).

If you local guy cant answer yor questions or has no inventory, or in your opinion, offers you poor customer service, then we would be happy to sell you a bike and be your dealership.
We sell the bikes at MSRP plus the usual taxes, DMV, and a realistic Dealer prep fee. We pay our techs. 3 hours to set one up and that's doing the complete Scooter Bob checklist.
Tho we have only been a dealer since Nov. but have seen a couple of examples of dealers doing a "quicky uncrate".

+1.  You really need to ride them both back to back.  They feel very different in the way they handle.

All these questions are just because you haven't ridden them.  Once you see them both in person and ride them both your questions will evaporate and the decision will be easy.

For 2010 and earlier it's 18" wheels on the C5, 19" on the G5.  For 2011, the C5 gets a 19" front wheel.  And while the final gear ratios are different they come out about the same when you factor in the different wheel sizes.  I didn't notice any marked difference in acceleration between the two.
