THAT'S what a real racer is all about! A mean, smoke-spittin' two stroke from 35 years ago - a racer who never lost it and a huge crowd at a famous track .... Go Kenny GO!! Almost brought a tear to my eye!  ;D
Spare the pig iron - spoil the part!

That bike sounds like a fruit jar full of bumble bees!   :D

Seriously, good bike, great rider.  Wonderful memories.

I remember watching an interview with James Hunt - charismatic British F1 champion of yesteryear. He was being asked what the best qualities were to have in an F1 car. His answer was along the lines of:

"I don't care if it is a death trap in the corners, as long as it isn't short of straight line speed. I'll iron out the handling problems with driver skill, as long as I can get past the other guy".

I think he was made of similar stuff to Kenny Roberts. Could do with a few more characters like that in all of the racing formulas - two wheels or four.

A couple years ago we were racing the short track in Sturgis and happened to be pitted next to Jerry Cheny. Roberts came in to talk to Jerry for a while, I was suprised to see him dressed in worn old jeans and those plastic shoes you buy at walmart. It was fun just to hang out and be in the presence of royalty. For some reason roberts always looks a lot bigger in pictures then he really is. When you see him in person hes the size of most super fast motorcycle racers, small.

It's not about winning or loosing. It's about who brought the best post race beer.
