Got a call tonight, was informed they;re pulling the plug on a friend I've known for 25 years. Irreparable brain damage/head trauma from a 14ft fall off a ladder onto pavement Monday.

Sure puts things into perspective. that could have been me 3 years ago when i fell 18ft off a telephone pole and cracked my hard hat wide open, sparing my skull. It only takes an instant to destroy a lifetime.

Godspeed my friend!

That's terrible, I'm sorry.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

Wow ! sure scares me, we do that work everday, and tend to not think about it, if it's any consolation Lati, I will show this to our guy's. And I am really sorry. My condolences.

I wish i would have been able to keep the hardhat, it sure was trashed. I spent 3 months off of work and then the whole recovery/therapy fun stuff. I had an internal blister the size of a grapefruit where my back hit the pavement and coughed up blood for a week from a battered lung. They never did figure out exactly what had happened, the pole was rotten at the top and threw me off when it snapped back after the stay pulled loose or something. I don't go to that part of town anymore!

Thanks guys for all the support, Dan was a great guy, very active with the local youth in a positive way. I got my first exposure to woodworking in his shop and have continued with it to this day. He knew a ton of people and we're all going to miss him around these parts.

just terrible...I remember 20 years ago the older guys close to their retirement would say "You could slip on a acorn"..You know what... they were right..Those dam things on asphalt are like marbles under you feet...Pine needles too when trying to mount the bike can get ya...It doesn't take much and sometimes we don't come back...Be careful and slow down..If it doesn't look right, move aside or take a step back...So sorry about your friend Dan...Too short a life...
Oh Magoo you done it again

Sorry to hear about such a tragedy!  A 14 ft fall equates to about 30mph on impact.

I wish the best for his family and friends.
