Did the build a bike form.  For around $7100 I could build a neat low buck semi-custom that wouldn't be a cookie cutter, always an advantage.  And would have a warranty.  Sounds like a win win situation.

I think these are great.

That engine is just so oddly jammed in there pointing all over the place - it's nice to see that every piece around it is nice and neat and clean.  It balances it out.  Even removing the knee pads make that tank just dead plain in a really nice way that contrasts the hornet's nest below it.

Russian cool.  I like'm.

Nice simple look.  Kind of like our Enfields, but heavier.  A Guzzi V7 Classic is much nicer, imho.  But I'd like to get a good closeup look at the Ural.

Dunno.the dealer where my son bought Jolly also sold Urals.Looked like a dirt bike disguised as a road bike. Then he got in something called the Bavaria or some such with no hack and the damned thing looked really swell.I wanted it.I don't trust them, fraid they mite be like there countrymen, devious and deadly.Or tough and dangerous.Rogues with a high and different sort of intelligence.THEIR,ya,I know.START treaty sucks.

Wondering if this model replaced the Wolf?  Guess I'll have to go back to the site and look around.

The Urals have a reputation for poor gas mileage.  WIthout the sidecar, what would be expected for the ST?

I thought the tractor seat was in interesting choice.  I will probably stick with my Bullet.

In my fantasy dream world- a world where Real Estate starts selling again, i am making money, there is world peace, and Uncle Ernie makes sense- I would be narrowing my next bike purchase down to 3 bikes: The W800, The Guzzi V7, and the Ural St.
They probably won't be bringing the W800 into the states.
I am fortunate that I have a good Guzzi dealer in town, but I don't like the plastic tank, the price, lack of kick starter, and I am enough of a Luddite to we wary of FI.
That leaves the Ural. It is an upgraded 70's BMW. I like having a kickstart, carbs, and even though it is only a 4 spd, the components are top notch. Kehin carbs, Ducati ignition, Denso alternator, Brembo brakes.

But there is no perfect world. Real estate has not recovered, I am not making money, there will always be wars, and Uncle Ernie will never make any sense. :D :D :D :D

Yikes, still a 4-speed?

I had two Guzzi 750's.  They were nicely built.  The FI is all sorted nowadays.

Kick-starter?  Why don't cars have handcrank starters anymore?  Heh, my 1960 Renault Dauphine had one but I'm not going back there any time soon.   :D

I think if I could afford a bike right now it would be a toss up between a C5
Bullet and the Ural sT.  I could be real happy with either.  The Triumph Scrambler used to be a contender, but for my money and interest, the Ural has it beat on all counts.  I like that the Ural comes stock setup basically just how I'd want it - solo seat and rear rack.  Add some panniers/saddlebags and hit the road (paved or otherwise).  I like the guzzi V7, but the C5 and the Ural appeal to me a lot more.

Really, though, I couldn't justify another bike unless it was it was a sidecar rig, so maybe a Ural T then!

yes justification and not enough room in the garage...That new Ural is very nice....how would that ride with a 4 speed...i would think it would have great torque but get buzzy at 65-70..
Oh Magoo you done it again

I need to stop looking at pictures of the Ural sT.  The more I look at them the more I want one!  Let's see... where did I leave that extra $7000 lying around?  :'( :'(
